President Barack Obama has kept mum on the fate of Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) for days -- but he tells CBS News that it's time for the embattled 80-year-old former Ways and Means Chairman to end his career "with dignity."

"I think Charlie Rangel served a very long time and served-- his constituents very well. But these-- allegations are very troubling," Obama told Harry Smith in an interview to be aired on the "Early Show." and first broadcast on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.

"And he'll-- he's somebody who's at the end of his career. Eighty years old. I'm sure that-- what he wants is to be able to-- end his career with dignity. And my hope is that-- it happens. "

So will Nancy P stand up for Charlie or will she fear getting hit by the same bus that just ran him over?:lol::mrgreen:

Wow. He's gotten caught a number of times rushing to judgement. I'm soooo surprised he did this. 'Course I won't be trashing his judgement in this case, since I agree he should be gone. Too late for the dignity part, though.

I'm sure that-- what he wants is to be able to-- end his career with dignity.
That's what happens when he has no teleprompteur. You get all kinds of dumb statements. Cambridge cops, bitter clingers, spread the wealth around, don't listen to Rush Limbaugh... and now a Congressman with 13 ethics charges hanging around his neck, head of the Way & Means Committee who is Geithner's mentor... should end his career with dignity?

Truly bizarre... having the president say a serial offender should end his career with "dignity".

Have to say... as a political action, I like it when they do this to themselves.

Obi is so full of himself, he doesn't seem to believe the Golden Rule applies to him... keep your mouth shut. That's fine, as he has provided a host of idiotic statements, unforced errors... with and without the teleprompteur.
