Says dems focus too much on identity politics.

What a hypocrite. And he is just saying that cause they are down. If they were up in the polls he would be sporting the same nonsense they are.

Democrat leaders try to tell (their version) of the truth, whether it's hurtful or not.
Republican leaders and their news outlets consistently and constantly blow smoke up their right-wing voter's asses....and swear its facts.

To hell with Obama. He made Trump possible.

Democrat's compulsive obsession with Trump borders a on mental illness. Obama is just trying to tell you it's only politics. Just let it go. Focus on what's important.

There YOU go, we knew you would find a partisan - and anti-Obama - slant to this story.
I don't suppose the Republicans are spending TOO MUCH TIME on attacking Democrats as Socialists and Biden as having dementia, are they??

Before I read the article, I'll tackle the comments.

A year ago, I'd agree with this. The progressives have been pretty much silenced for some time.

Obama has consistently opposed wokeness. Not a hypocrite.

The rest is wild speculation.

...okay...reading

I'll stop Obama right here:

"I think where [Democrats] get into trouble sometimes is when we try to suggest that some groups are more — because they historically have been victimized more, that somehow they have a status that’s different than other people, and that we’re going around scolding folks if they don’t use exactly the right phrase," Obama said.

Democrats have always supported marginalized groups, but I don't see this in any campaign. Abortion and democracy have nothing to do with what Obama is saying.

I don't disagree that the Dems need to push back on the economy. Biden has been doing so, and I expect Obama will as well when he visits Atlanta.

Have you ever been in the United States?
so, you are going to avoid the question? try for a deflection? your inane statement blaming Obama for Trump has nothing to do with me having visited the States (and yes, MANY times, so there!)
if you can't or won't answer the question, fess up, and stop hiding behind hurt feelings because I asked you to back up your claim.

That's a creaky stretch. How did Obama make Trump possible?

Just read how many times you've been asked the same question and still haven't answered. I withdraw my question.

He gave an answer, it was the wrong one.

Of course, indirectly, Obama WAS responsible for Trump. You see, all the racists in the U.S. could not live down the fact that they had to endure a black president so they called up all their cousins and fellow nutters to get them riled up and vote white next time. White male that is.

He chose Hillary, who many Democrats did not support. He should have known better.
Doesn't that mean Hillary is responsible for making Trump? Not Obama?

Primary voters selected Hillary, Obama just threw his support behind her. That happens during primary season. That is a piss poor translation of "Obama caused Trump."

Semantics. Hillary wasn't responsible beyond running a poor campaign and James Comey deep-sixing her just days before the election saying she was under investigation. It's a shame, that as a Canadian (something Jack found occasion to mock) we know MORE about the history of elections than some Americans do.

No, Obama put his support on Hillary early on. Plus, Obama was a centrist--a lazy Republican.

...certainly seems to make the opposite argument, here, since millions of those white males had to have voted for Obama to get him elected in the way it did.

OMG, this is getting pathetic. By your reasoning Obama is responsible for Biden, and Biden is as much a "centrist" as Hillary was. Give your head a shake. I suspect the ONLY candidate you would approve of is the Bernie Sanders type and everyone not as far left as he is, is a lazy Republican? GAWD! Some people do jump through hoops to make an argument that still lands on it's head.

You can have the last word, I am sure you will want it.

So Obama backing Hillary made Trump? Can't think of a more obscure way to poke the libs. Suggest a new thread incorporating logic next time.

BUT Obama wasn't left ENOUGH, so anyone he endorsed wouldn't be left ENOUGH, and that would include Biden since Obama endorsed him as well.
But as I stated to Jack, I am giving him the last word because in the end, HE NEEDS TO BE RIGHT, and won't let it go till we agree with him or walk away. I am walking.

maybe, but that is mostly the fault of the democratic party for allowing the radicals to take over.

now if you want to counterpoint, I will agree the right has its share of radicals showing their faces nowadays than they used to, but we have not let them take over, no matter how much progressives bleat that we have.

the backlash we are somewhat seeing, even as partially due to the Roe ruling, is due to the transcendence of radicalism observed in the Democrat party, imho.
