Obama Says Boston Bombings an Act of Terrorism[W: 77]

Re: Obama Says Boston Bombings an Act of Terrorism.....

More than happy to correct people when they are wrong....

This whole Bill Ayers is a terrorist line is a substantial misnomer propagated by the fringe of the right, most notably Palin and Hannity. Yes, technically he WAS a terrorist (not an IS), but the label "terrorist" has changed has radically in one direction as Ayers has in the other.

The Weather Underground was perpetrating a somewhat perverted form of civil disobedience in protest of the Southeast Asian war by causing property damage to US facilities and, to some extent, banks. They never intended, nor did they ever, kill anyone. Their bombings were always preceded with a warning. To group that activity under the same umbrella as the terrorism we have experienced in the last decade or so makes for great political theatre, but it is in essence, a lie.

OTH, Dr. Ayers is a an accomplished educator, holding a Ed D (PhD) in education from Ivy League, Columbia. He has also been very active in matters affecting the poor and disadvantaged in Chicago, including matters of urban education and social justice. He served in leadership roles in many philanthropic organizations including the Woods Foundation and The Chicago Annenberg Challenge. He was even Chicago Citizen of the Year one year. The man has been a consistent advocate for social justice, its just that his youthful exuberance took him outside the law.

Look, you can not like Bill Ayers, but to call him a terrorist in the same vein as Al Qaeda or these guys in Boston is really character defamation.
