Personally As a citizen with Rights I do not want to see Powell going against Obama. Because that would be right down the Republicians alley to have two Black Brothers going against each other. If anything they should be a team in the up-coming election, and it should be up to them which one will run for President or Vice President. Also since there is so much BS going on in both partys they should organize their own political group, and gain support that way. The ticket should be Colin,Obama, and Senator Ford, and call their party THE HERE & NOW.
Who says that a team has to consist of a single policial party? I can remember a time when the Republican party was much different than it is today. I remember true Conservatives. I remember the "big tent". I would like to see that return. It is true that Republicans have pandered to blacks, but so have Democrats. They are the ones who threw money at the problem of rascism, and merely pandered to blacks, rather than honestly addressing their problems and grievances.
Malcolm X, IMHO, was a the first American hero to declare that the black community should refuse "white man's money". I dont agree with his reasons, and I never did like being called a white devil. However, he was right about the money aspect, and he later did repudiate rascism (which is what got him killed). He has my complete respect for that.
Having said all that, I dont care what political party anyone, white, black, brown, red, yellow, green, or even purple with pink polkadots, belongs to, just as long as a true debate in America occurs. This is not happening now. The "Great Debate" is now being dominated by wedge issues, formulated for the purpose of dividing and conquoring the American people. Once the Bushneviks are gone from the Republican party, I believe that we will once again see the beginning of truly debating the issues which confront us. And in that day, I would like to think that the GOP will once again be, not only an open party, but this time open enough for Colin Powell to make his mark in.
Powell vs. Obama? Not only would that be a great race, but would also be a slap in the face of all those who do not believe that EVERY American or American vote counts. I would be very happy to see that glove smacked directly across their hateful faces. This glove would be a message that would say - "Go home now, and retire to your darkened corners of hatred, never to be seen again by man. It is all you have left, because the American people have moved on. Best wishes to you, but goodbye, and may history someday forget that you were ever an American."
