Obama Rejects Netanyahu Meeting

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel is sounding increasingly agitated over what it views as American dithering with economic sanctions too weak to force Iran to end its suspected drive toward nuclear weapons.

In a clear message aimed at the White House, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday criticized what he said was the world's failure to spell out what would provoke a U.S.-led military strike against Iranian nuclear facilities. The comments came in response to U.S. refusals in recent days to set "red lines" for Tehran.

Israeli officials say American politics do not factor into their thinking, but that the sense of urgency is so grave that the world cannot hold its breath until after the November election.

"The world tells Israel, 'Wait. There's still time,'" Netanyahu said Tuesday. "And I say: 'Wait for what? Wait until when?' Those in the international community who refuse to put red lines before Iran don't have a moral right to place a red light before Israel."

Although the United States has accused Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapon capability under the cover of a peaceful program, the Obama administration has said it does not believe Iran has decided whether to build an atomic bomb — if it in fact develops the ability to do so

On Tuesday, diplomats told The Associated Press that the U.N. atomic agency has received new and significant intelligence over the past month that Iran has advanced its work on calculating the destructive power of an atomic warhead through a series of computer models within the past three years.

The diplomats who spoke to the AP said the information came from Israel, the United States and at least two other Western countries They demanded anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss classified information member countries make available to the IAEA.....snip~

I woke up with a kink in my neck today. I'm pretty sure that's Obama's fault too.

You need to keep you kinkiness to yourself.

So you answer someone about a movie star with a quote from a comedian. :lamo

Obama says it was a scheduling conflict and the schedule was set. Plus he was on the Phone with Netanyahu for an hour last night. But then Netanyahu released that statement with the piece I linked up. He must not have been happy with that phone call.

Yes, a politically stupid move considering the hoopla over the Democratic platform that went on last week, with the omission of religion and Israel.

ooops

appears bibi never requested a meeting

he expected to arrive and barge into the white house as he liked

kudos to Obama for not letting that happen

let bibi feel the political pain of refusing to negotiate a peace

Mofaz to Bibi: Are you afraid of Iran or US? - Israel News, Ynetnews

If they want to start a war, then they need to do it themselves. Iran has not attacked anyone in god-knows how long. They are not a threat to the US currently and we can't afford to fight them anyway. So if Israel wants to pick a fight, they already have all the war power they need fight it. Having perpetual wars is killing the US, and if they can't see that their big buddy USA need a break, then **** em. We can cheer them on from the sidelines.

This is what Netanyahu has to say. As we can see what Clinton said. It is clear that there is a disconnect with this administration and Israel.

Right or wrong, I think Obama was politically insensitive given what I said earlier and the history between the two men. He should have known that at a minimum the media would take off on this.

Agreed.....no getting round it with the Embassies getting hit. Plus Obama has been losing his Jewish Donors from last time round.

"What is wrong with the telephone?

Good question. Why do you suppose world leaders ever meet in person when they can videoconference?

Well, if he hadn't been before, he will now.

I keep asking the same thing......why waste money traveling. Especially say if one was just in anothers country within the last month.

I'm not even sure what the Isralies want. We said we do not tolerate Iran with nuclear weapons, we even said we'll probably go to war if Iran develops nuclear weapons, mind that this doesn't even mean Iran has to attack Israel (which would be the point I'd go to war with Iran)

At least Terran said they'd "wipe Israel from the face of this earth" them selves instead of asking us to do it for them, now even if they had nuclear weapons the likely hood of them actually nuking Israel is slim to none. Those statements had more bark than bite considering Israel has a much more advanced nuclear capabilities them selves.

I guess one thing Israel does have going for them is Iran hasn't been nuked yet. I bet the US has a lot to do with it.
