First Obama declares a red line in Syria. Then Syria launches a very small chemical attack to test him and Obama ignores it. When they saw Obama was bluffing they launched this recent attack that may have killed thousands and Obama says that's it, here I come. He looks for support from NATO and gets the cold shoulder so he looks to the UK and they say , not interested. Obama then rattles his saber and says he can and will do it alone and Kerry comes along and gives the impression the missiles are just about on the way. Then Obama says never mind, I think I'll take this to congress when they get back from recess, no worry, no hurry. Now the pro gov forces in Syria are dancing in the streets and Iran is ramping up its nuke program and laughing at America, nice work Obama.

It doesn't make America look weak. It makes Obama (clown that he is) look indecisive. He should have taken the diplomatic stance from the outset, instead of posturing like the inexperienced and mediocre dick he is.

No!

Actually, kudos to Obama for asking Congress and not acting like an emperor, like some other US presidents.

I disagree with the premise of the poll because the title presumes the action has not happened yet and could be stopped. :)

First Obama said he didn't need congress, it's only after he couldn't get the support from Europe that he wanted and expected that he went running to congress for cover.

You don't announce the party send out invitations and then ask mom and dad if it is OK to have the party. ;)

The premise of the poll is that Obama's indecisiveness and his drawing lines in the sand and then backing down as someone steps over his line has made America look weak. That has already happened.

Presidents can be wrong sometimes, you know. :) What is he, some kind of God?
Give the man a chance. ;)

I agree. Even though I am not big on interventionism...if you are going to do it...DO it!

"Here is my line in the sand...oh you crossed it? POW! Right in the kisser."

Still, he should never have drawn the line in the sand in the first place. Now, he should take his medicine like a man and back the eff off.

I wonder how Kerry's gonna feel when Obama takes him aside and whispers to him: "John, John, John. I know you think you did the right thing in trying to get
congress to go along. Thing is, I really didn't want them to. That's what this is all about. This is why you're just SecState. See?"

What in your opinion was he wrong about, drawing the line in the first place or backing down when it was crossed? Serious question, I'm just not sure what you mean here.

Too late for last minute pretensions of self-restraint. That ship has sailed. He already flapped his jaw like a dunce.

I agree that we don't belong in Syria but as you said once you make a statement like Obama did you damn sure better enforce it or you look like a fool and you make America look like a joke.

Yep. Now that Obama finds himself feeling alone and with an unpopular idea he needs a way to look reasonable and responsible. If congress says OK then he can assert that he was right all along, if congress says no then he will blame congress for things being left a mess in Syria. The same approach was used by Obama with PPACA, ObamaCare is not really Obama's idea, he wanted UHC, but since congress critters (via lobbyists) came up with something different he can hope the change will work, by taking credit for it if it works and saying that he prefered a different approach if (when?) it fails.

Oh please. He only stated he would go through Congress after his puppet Kerry railed on and on about expediency in taking military action.

You see, for Obama he backed himself into a corner. He hesitated. So to keep himself from looking like the bafoon he is, he back peddled.

He calls for military strikes, no "boots on the ground", due to Syria's action being a threat to national security.

This way, he passes the Buck to Congress, doesn't call a special session....Oh no...we're going to wait until September 9th, when Congress reconvenes, to let them take a vote, after debating the issue.

Congress votes Yes, He's absolved himself and Kerry of jumping the gun...they vote no, he will wash his hands and say, "well, I tried"....again, absolving himself of making decisions a CIC should be making.

Tell me. If Syria's actions are a threat to our national security, then why the hesitation if what he wants is a limited strike? Seems to me, a small town farm girl, that if the U.S. was in danger, action should be immediate and swift. This leads me to believe there is more at play here. Methinks Obama's mouth is writing checks his ass can't cash.

He's an indecisive boob, and won't take the reigns as CIC.

I for one, think we have NO business in Syria...but apparently Obama thinks differently and chooses to pass the buck.

Drawing the line in the first place. :peace

Excellent analyses. Obama has been very careful throughout his presidency to not be responsible for anything that happens on his watch but this time his buds in Europe left him twisting in the wind and now he desperately needs to be able to hide behind congress on this Syria fiasco he got us into with his idle threat.

I'm hoping that his purpose is to weasel out of it by blaming Congress; and I really hope Congress says "no attack." I hate political party games when it comes to the possibility of war.

Yet another excellent analyses of this situation.

Actually, if America bomb Syria just because Obama made a slip out, that would look like a foolish thing to me. Only fools don't admit their mistakes.

The secret is to let mom and dad know you're facing down a bully so they are ready to back you when it happens. ;)

On the other hand, if your true goal was simply to change the national topic of conversation (headlines) from the Benghazi mess, IRS scandals, PPACA not working out as planed, Putin publically disrespecting him, NSA spying on "the folks", sequestration not ending the world and the dismal state of the economy/employment then anything is a political plus. ;)

Nothing gets the flags waving, the money flowing and the crowd cheering like kicking some ass in a third world dump with nobody comming home in body bags.

America won't bomb Syria, Obama will. It almost seems like you are trying to give him cover on this, not his fault again.

Dude you're on fire this morning. ANOTHER good analyses, the plot thickens.

EDIT: I just started a post with "dude" I better go take my morning mt bike ride, I must need fresh air!

I don't think they are. Syria is what, 15 000 miles away from the USA? How they could be a threat to U.S. national security?

Hmm, I changed my post a bit...I decided I wouldn't care if he cleared it with mom and dad, in this case the "bully" is really the "wimp" and never was any challenge. So the Prez was the bully and now he should back the eff off.
