As a nation that champions freedom and democracy around the world, should we not recognize one of democracy's greatest leaders?
Yeah, it's typical liberal-bashing from him. That's pretty much all he does.
Rush will let the rightists know on Monday what to think, as he did with the Pope..
GOP politicians are scared to death to speak until Rush gives them the go-ahead to trash Mandela .

We already have and are though he didn't champion democracy (he was a capitol S Socialist). However we should not usurp the honor that goes to Americans and those who contribute significantly to America just because our POTUS wants some of the world regard a foreign dignity had to rub off on him.

The only people who oppose this are in an extremist minority that are stuck in a cold war mentality with wilful [sic] ignorance and vintage information.
Be sure to come back and tell us what he says. You appear to be one of the few here who listen to his shows.
Besides, this isn't about trashing Mandela, this is about a president trying to ride the world popularity coattails of a dead guy that means zero to America.
Nice to know that those of us who disapprove of terrorism and murder, and are not eager to honor someone notorious for his connection thereto, are “in an extremist minority that are stuck in a cold war mentality with wilful [sic] ignorance and vintage information.”

Okay, one is primarily economic system, and the other is a political. Whether you want to admit it or not, he is the only reason there are free, democratic elections in South Africa. Hell, he was so important that he broadcasted for us several speeches on Freedom Radio Program, or w.e that was called. Can't we just honor a great man?
You know, that kind of thinking may of applied a few years ago. But with as much diversity in thought that is in the republican party now, that no longer applies. There's a lot of people who never listen Rush believe it or not.
It's always about bashing Obama isn't it..
Soon he'll be accused by the right-wing hate machine of distracting from PPACA, as we've seen from the GOP for two months..
Feigning that over 20 million listeners aren't influenced along with the GOP House will never pass the smell test .
Hey Pero..I'm wondering what it was like around here when Ted Kennedy died, if this Mandela stuff is any indication..
I'm sure GOP Politicians will have the continued gag order on for their own good .

I just want to know what the "clownboys" are listening to, clownboy..Well, in this case, since it's President Obama ordering it, who else would YOU say is responsible? The rest is just the same old warmed over nonsense from you. Face it, you like listening to Rush, it gives you a thrill to yell at the radio.
Cool. But answer this, why do we lower the NATION'S flag to half staff in the first place?

I just don't have a problem with it for someone who played such a prominent, positive role on the national stage.
Except he didn't so there's not even that reason for it.
We'll have to agree to disagree on this one Hamster..
Every day that man speaks, the GOP Congress parrots his remarks later in the day along with FOX..
I give credit where it is due and predicted he would be this influential after he survived his second bankrupcy 30 some years ago..
Have you heard of any GOP politicians saying anything good about Mandela..
I really want to know .
I don't know, but I do believe one should have respect for the recently departed regardless of political ideology. But that is just me. I fail to see how being a Republican or Democrat, a conservative or liberal has to do with paying ones respects. If not paying one's respects at least letting the guy get buried before demonizing the man. But perhaps it is because I am one from an older generation.
This thread isn't about honoring “one of democracy's greatest leaders”; it's about honoring a murderous terrorist.
I'm really surprised by the unmitigated hate coming from the military guys on here, not you of course..
I guess I don't remember when Mao and Stalin died..Did they get it this bad ?
