Obama Says Summers Did 'A Heckuva Job' - FoxNews.com

I find this very interesting that Jon Stewart (a very liberal person) didn't swallow Obama's bull crap and pinned him down on Comedy Central last night.
I am sure that some TV stations that are fair will show the video of Jon's interview with Obama.
Obama looked very uncomfortable and I am sure he won't be back to Central Comedy any time soon.

Got to give kudos to Stewart for his interview of Obama last night. Was pleasantly surprised that he didn't allow this to be some softball campaign stop for the Democratic party. He (Stewart) asked some tough questions and took Obama to task when he responded with platitude style answers.

In all fairness, Obama did a decent job for his part also. Got some tough questions/points thrown at him and fielded them admirably. (he may have been pre-informed what the topics would be, but he didn't have a teleprompter or fumble/stutter his words....)

It's kind of amusing to see that Obama *IS* the last laugh. When a comedian calls the president of the US "Dude" you just know that Obama is well on his way to the scrap heap of history.

I agree with you entirely. :)

I really have to give Stewart credit for that interview. It was one of the only political interviews that was neither a puff piece nor a smear job. Hopefully people will catch onto the concept that you can offer constructive criticism in political discourse in addition to fawning and mudslinging.

It was a good interview by Stewart, which is painful to say for a few reasons, but nothing and I mean nothing will top him being on Crossfire. Those poor bastards there didn't even know what hit them.

Yea, I thought he did a great job the other day when he had Eric Cantor on for an interview.

It is sad that when I watch clips from the Daily Show and go damn that is a good interview, why can't the cable news do stuff like that.

The opinion people on the news networks get paid for their partisanship and creating divisiveness. Stewart gets paid for the jokes regardless of who they're against. He's a liberal and obviously so but it's easy to see that he treats people more fairly then most on real news networks...

I like Jon Stewart even if he is a liberal. He is smart, funny and tells it like it is even when it came to Pres. Bush. and I commend him for it.

Judging by your response, I can easily conclude that you don't tune in often. He interviews people from all sides of the spectrum and treats them all the same. One of my fav interviews was with Condoleezza Rice a few weeks back.

Stewart must be WAY far left if he thinks what Obama has done in office can be described as "timid".

Just one example, healthcare. We didn't do single payer, the most "liberal" form, we didn't even get a public option, which is very popular among liberals and independents, we got a few subsidies and are requiring people to take care of themselves by buying their own healthcare plan. What was passed is strikingly similar to what Republicans proposed back in the Clinton days to counter the public option and has been argued by many conservative Republicans as a conservative measure because it requires people be self sufficient and take care of their own health insurance.

The people that think he is some raging Marxist/communist/socialist that has destroyed the country with his policies have watched to much Beck.

He also called another head of state (can't remember which, middle-eastern) "Broseph" pretty recently. He's a comedian and gets to do that sort of thing.

He's had John Bolton on quite a few times too.

What, you thought no one would challenge you on this? Are you for real? You couldn't even begin to back up any of this nonesense you espouse. There are so many ambiguous claims here you would have to frist start by being specific. But.. Maybe that was your plan all along, you know, sound like I know what I'm talking about, but not actually say anything of substance, and hope no one pays attention to me? Well apparantely you were thanked 6 times, so someone was paying attention. I wonder if they actually read what you wrote and understood it, or just thought it sounded sorta intelligent? :)

Please clarify you comments with specificity, so we can really see if you know what you're talking about.

By the way to the OP. I thought the interview was also fair, and Stewart is a raging liberal Jew, of course timid is his reaction to Obama's admin. :)

Too many aren't really interested in the answer. If you start by thinking you know the answer, and only wait to make your point, it's hard to do a decent interview.

Tim-
I find it funny after reading your post that you're accusing me of "not actually saying anything of substance". My claims aren't ambiguous. I'm going to simply lay them out in an easy to read format for you and you can go and research them to your heart's content, but until you ask me a specific question rather than just standing there with your arms crossed and mumbling "really? I mean really? Hmph, well... uh... Really?" there's not really much I can do for you dude. And thank you for noting that I sound intelligent.

1. We didn't do single payer. Fact.

2. we didn't even get a public option. Fact.

3. we got a few subsidies and are requiring people to take care of themselves by buying their own healthcare plan. Fact.

4. What was passed is strikingly similar to what Republicans proposed back in the Clinton days to counter the public option and has been argued by many conservative Republicans as a conservative measure because it requires people be self sufficient and take care of their own health insurance.
Even the heritage foundation, one of the most conservative institutions I can think of and I'm sure many conservatives would agree with me on that, made a proposal in 1994 which the CBO analyzed.
In order to guarantee universal health care coverage, everyone would have to obtain insurance, either through a government program or from a private insurer, on their own or through a family member. The states would be charged with enforcing the mandate and would have to arrange coverage for people who did not do so themselves. The minimum insurance would cover "catastrophic" health care expenses--that is, those exceeding $1,000 a year for an individual or $2,000 a year for a family. (Those amounts would be adjusted for inflation after 1997.)

To help make the coverage affordable for people who did not qualify for Medicare or other government programs, the proposal would establish a new, refundable tax credit that would depend on a family's health expenses as a percentage of its income.

So, right you are, roughtdraft! Unfortunately as I've said in other threads recently, the Dems have done a poor job of capturing the narrative and persuading the American people not only of what they've done, but what was attempted in the past on both sides of the political isle and show people exactly what's so different about their health care reform (proposal) that will truly benefit them AND the country.

The President has stated such long before the health care debates and town halls took place, but the Dems as a whole have not spoken in "1-VOICE" on this and other achievements they've made since 2006 but in particular since Obama took office. So, unless more Dems and Independents are pissed off than ever before and switch sides or just don't get out and vote in large numbers as they did in 2008, I foresee atleast one side of Congress (the House) falling to Republicans. Let's hope the People are smart enough to know that to date, the Dems have done the best they could under the most trying of circumstances and are still working hard to do more to move this country in the right direction.
