Greetings, Luftwaffe. :2wave:
I don't know what criteria they used to make their statement, but make it they did - based on however they gauge such things. I didn't say I liked reading that, though!
There are relatively few wars going on and even the civil wars are much less bloody than they historically used to be. You are simply being hysterical.
:lamo: I'm probably one of the least hysterical people you will ever meet, as people who know me will confirm. Logic is my guide in most things I'm faced with, unfortunately. Pretending everything is just peachy doesn't work for me, since reality keeps intruding.
Nixon opened up China. US manufacturers have been using China for industry since the early eighties, making handsome profits. There really is no reason to hold China in this adversarial posture. I suppose the defence industry is licking their chops at the prospect of war with China.
First of all China has only 250 nuclear warheads, far fewer then the U.S. or Russia and as yet have not chosen to compete on a warhead basis. You might be asking why China doesn't ask us to reduce our count which is now 7300! As far a strategic secrets are concerned, China has the ability to steal them just like Russia did. I doubt we are giving away anything they don't already have. Peaceful use of nuclear power is in the interests of the entire world and China is now the #1 emmitter of Co2, most of it from coal. anything that will help them transition to cleaner power generation is a good thing. A wise man said "Keep your friends close but your enemies closer". This deal seems to follow those words.
The danger normally doesn't come from places you know, but places you don't expect. China is not our friend and they are not an enemy - but they eventually will give into temptation of power, control and militarism. They are an ancient race and have gone through period like this many times - eventually it will happen and my belief is they will let the attack dog they have on a leash right now (North Korea) be the cannon fodder for the initial wave.
And the US has an aging Nuke capability. The time is now perfect to bring China on board, as Russia will jump at the chance to lower nuke levels.

China is a couple thousand ahead of us in PPP.
They are still trillions below in raw output and per person they are still not even in the top 50 in the world, nevermind on our level or above.
Actually digest what you're reading. Your strength clearly isn't in economics so seek guidance and learn and always define every last thing you read by googling or whatever you have to do. A high schooler shouldn't be telling you this.
Warhead reduction is up to the US and Russia. China is already at a level we can only dream of. I doubt Putin will "jump" at any reductions, he is bent on bringing back Russia to its former"glory".
Our aging nuke capability is more than enough to shut China up for a century at LEAST.
True, and the rest of humanity dies off from radiation.
Nope! I study history, plus I tend to believe scientists when they tell us how old this planet is.
We'll no. I don't think China is a snake, and I don't appreciate ginning up a war with them.
Do you think that the South China Sea is all Chinese territory as they have claimed?
China will not attack its number one costumer. Both nations would lose terribly in the end and China would not win over us (whether they deal a lot of damage or not earns nothing).
If you know anything about history, then you will know that the current time is relatively speaking quite peaceful and safe.
I should argue with the IMF and tell them they're wrong? Not likely to happen in the foreseeable future, but if you feel like doing so, best of luck to you. Who knows, perhaps they like hearing from people and will agree with you and admit they were wrong in their statement.
Huh? If you are not including the two world wars we've fought and disregard what's going on in the ME and Africa, which is spreading to other parts of the world as we speak, then I guess you could call the current time "peaceful and safe." I just don't see current events the same way you do, apparently.
I never suggest they would. My point was and has been our constitution requires us to provide for the safety of it's citizens. The world has a history of wars and instability such as the middle east in flames. History dictates a strong military to provide that security. And yes today China wants our business but that can always change. China is now the number one economic supper power and it has amassed a huge military. One never knows who will be on the march next to obtain more power.
Newsflash, the Second World War ended 70 years ago.
What year did 9-11 happen?
And how many wars and years sense WWII
A huge military with no boats to sail across the goddamn pacific :lamo
