This morning, the New York Times released a fascinating study — one that should send shockwaves throughout D.C.: “The Democratic Party Faces a Voter Registration Crisis.”

Among its findings:

Comment:
Why do you think that the Democrat Party is shrinking?
Is it because of cultural issues or because of policy issues.
Is because of Wokeness and DEI?

And yet the republicans are heading for a cliff in the midterms. Why do you suppose that is?

Part of woke is calling it the “Democrat Party.” Use its real name, as the Times did, if you want to be taken seriously.

but why do the Democrats call it the Democrat Party all of the time?

There's already a thread on this subject.

Thanks, I did note see it

It is happening to both parties as more and more voters identify as Independents.

Registered Voters by Party 2025

The number of registered voters for the Republican Party is approximately 38.8 million
The number of Democratic voters is reported to be around 49 million
The number of people who identify with and declare themselves as Independent voters is second next to Democrats

"That four-year swing toward the Republicans adds up to 4.5 million voters"

Not sure what 'swing' you think you see.

  • As of June 2025, 44.9 million registered voters in these areas identified themselves as Democrats, representing 36.84% of registered voters in these areas.
  • A total of 38 million registered voters identified themselves as Republicans, representing 31.01% of registered voters in these areas.
  • A total of 33.7 million registered voters identified themselves as independents or unaffiliated with any political party. This amounted to 27.7% of registered voters in these areas.
  • Approximately 5.4 million registered voters identified themselves as members of other political parties. This amounted to 4.46% of registered voters in these areas.

The only demographic left for them are deluded trans activists and crazy white liberal women. Also, beta men.

That is from the NYT

Yes. That way we can all stop being deluded- and go chasing after cat eating Haitians, cancer causing wind turbines, secret Kenyan birth certificates, genocidal S Africans, trickle down economics, autism-causing vaccines, and other such odds and ends together. Yay not being deluded!

Yep. The democrats are just not reading the room. They are not going to win another election in this country until they learn to be more openly and proudly bigoted and anti-science like Republicans. That's just the reality of where this country is these days.

but why do the Democrats call it the Democrat Party all of the time?
No we dont. I am a democrat who belongs to the Democratic Party. Just Google the topic “why do republicans call it the Democrat Party. The childish insult has been around for years. I suppose that we could respond by calling it “the republic party” or the Grand Out-of-touch-Party.

This. ^

I actually just did this when I renewed my driver's license this summer, I'm registered Independent now. I didn't realize it was a trend but I guess it is.

I sure AS SHIT am not voting for Vance in 28, I can say that much, LOL

I have been a registered Independent (unaffiliated) for many years.
And I have at times voted for a Republican candidate.
But since the MAGA cult takeover of the Republican party I will not vote for any Republican be it at the local, state, or federal level.

The Democrat Party's hate, racism, violence, fanaticism and corruption alienates the mainstream voters.

You know, I have heard this a thousand times, and yet reporters and politicians still say democrat

Same.

One day, after Taco shuffles off this mortal coil and goes to that great big McDonald's in the sky, and MAGA disintegrates because they have no weird, rambling liar to make up shit that they need to believe in lockstep, maybe...maybe I'll consider voting Republican again. If MAGA has been replaced by anything even loosely sane and non-authoritarian. But honestly? After ten years of this shit I doubt it. I don't think I'll ever trust the GOP again.

I hope, and believe, that the 2026 midterms are going to be a very rude awakening for the MAGAs.
The Democrats could easily retake majority control of both the House and the Senate and if that happens then Despot Donnie's Project 2025 agenda is dead.
