A nurse was fired for taking a teen student to an off-campus clinic where she got a pregnancy test and a morning after pill. The nurse has gone to federal court to challenge her dismissal. She claims she was unfairly fired because she was following the law and protecting the students right to confidentiality. The school says she was fired for taking a student off-campus without parental permission.

So which is the greater good...protecting the girl's confidentiality or seeking parental permission. Both of which are required.

It depends, how old was the girl?

IMO, children under the age of 18 do not have "confidentiality".

The nurse should be fired, she interfered with parental responsibility and the family. If anything she should have agreed to help the girl inform the parents, at their home after school.

What if there had been complications, even death of the girl?
