NRA Chief Sought Help of Group’s Ad Agency in Trying to Buy $5 Million Mansion - WSJ
Wayne LaPierre’s dealings with firm being probed by New York attorney general
National Rifle Association Chief Executive Wayne LaPierre was in discussions to have the group’s then-outside advertising agency help him buy a Dallas mansion last year for more than $5 million, but the deal fell through, according to people familiar with the matter.
The aborted house deal and conflicting explanations for why it fell apart are coming to the fore as the New York attorney general’s office is probing the NRA, including Mr. LaPierre’s dealings with the ad agency. The ad agency, Ackerman McQueen, recently turned over information about the contemplated house purchase to the AG’s office, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Wayne LaPierre and his wife Susan wanted to purchase this mansion after the Parkland High School massacre because he feared for his life. He wanted the gun lobby to buy him a $6 million dollar house in Texas. The couple wanted to buy a high-rise in Dallas with enhanced security features, but they wanted a social membership at the exclusive golf club at the mansion location. Susan was concerned about the small closet space in the men's closet of the master bedroom.
Keep in mind, the NRA is a non-profit organization, which means the NRA enjoys a tax-free status. One of the regulations for any non-profit organization is that it cannot primarily benefit specific individuals through excessively compensating.
How much income tax did you pay the government last year? The NRA paid 0.

If the house would be used for future Presidents of the NRA then it very well could buy the home.
but i am sure that you are happy that people that help defend our freedoms are in legal trouble
simply because you don't like them and find them icky.
Excessive compensation in the form of perks like living in a mansion is still excessive...
Mind your own business.
In other words
Stop making the head of the NRA look like a crook stealing money from donations to line his own pocket
Question, was the intern whose rent he had the NRA pay for a woman or a man?

Yes, I find it 'icky' that Wayne LaPierre can personally profit from weapons used to kill and totally free from obligation to pay a penny of tax to the U.S. treasury. Yes, I find it 'icky' that the U.S. has just 4% of the world's population of 7.2 billion people but have 42% of all the guns in the world. I find it 'icky' that the U.S. has a population of 329 million which is 4.27% of the population of the entire planet but we house 22% of the world's incarcerated prisoners.
A five year old could do that math. What it rounds out to is this. There are more crimes in the U.S. committed with guns, there are more deaths attributed to guns and there are more mass murders committed with guns than anywhere else in the world. I truly do find those statistics 'icky'.
"Stealing"?
Also, show me where personnel changes were made due to this potential transaction.
Here is a curve ball for you: The NRA hires everyone it needs and no more, so if anything, that money would mean one less commercial. You still pissed?
I do not donate to the NRA so I do not care what they do with donations. If the people who do are fine with its leader stealing their money to provide a luxury lifestyle for him (and pay for his affairs) rather than lobby for gun rights, no skin off of me. I will just point and laugh at the wasted money from the hard working people who made donatios

How much income tax did you pay the government last year? The NRA paid 0.
So you know the NRA is Non profit but then complain that they paid 0 in taxes? Non profits don't pay taxes!
You know they are tax-exempt ! Silly to try a smear with this nonsense.
So the scary house deal did not happen? Again another smear with zero basis. 2 for 2... not good!
The NRA has an elected board of directors so any money spent has to be approved. The board is elected by members who are
5 year or life time members. There are about 5 million paying members. The NRA is a very effective political group. All of it's
members are very involved to protect the 2nd amendment. That is why the New York attorney General is harassing them. They are
doing the same thing to the president, The Trump organization, Trump family members, and Trump associates.
They are trying to quiet the NRA. It won't work.
That's my point, they are a non-profit organization, ****ing the US government out of tax money while profiting billions of dollars and spending billions of dollars to pay off politicians and to shower their top executives with luxurious mansions, jet planes to scoot them off to private mansions in the Bahamas and pay for $5000 custom made suits.

Planned parenthood is Non-Profit... Are they ****ing the US government out of tax money while profiting billions of dollars and spending billions of dollars to pay off politicians?
A bet your answer is no? Silly thread at best..... Your NRA hate is showing!! :lamo
Clearly you DO care what they do with their donations, so why lie about it?
No I do not.
I find it interesting, I find a wide variety of things interesting but it does not mean I care about them.
In other words

Question, was the intern whose rent he had the NRA pay for a woman or a man?
.... hmmmmm....
It really is puzzling how you insist on lying about something so easily proven false. Why do you cry for their payroll if you actually don't care? And, more simply, why are you here?
Again your are severely misstating money facts. The highlighted text is an total absolute lie!
Billions of dollars... Geez........ :naughty
Because I found it interesting that you told another poster to mind their business and that a head of a major organization is stupid enough to use organization money to pay the rent for a female intern. Of course he will say that he had no sexual relations with that intern, and we will all believe him
If you find it interesting then you care. Thanks for playing.
