Now, here, in Azerbaijan, it is bruited about that after the talks on Turkish additional deliveries of gas to Georgia within the framework of the Shakh-Deniz project Georgians were greatly disappointed by very high price that they will have to pay to Turkey for gas from our Shakh-Deniz deposit and decided to advance the transit gas price for Azerbaijan. Missing their mark during recent Georgian Prime Minister Z. Nogaideli’s working visit to our country, Georgian ruling circles have tried to terrorize our government.
I think at Georgian witting unknown persons have committed an act of terror, blasting the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline not far from our border with Georgia. Nobody in Azerbaijan doubts that Georgians have ventured upon this step in order to force our government leveling up the transit price for Georgia now, because only in this case Georgia will be able to clear its expenses on Turkish gas quota.
With the knowledge of Georgian habit to settle any matter by force there is nothing strange in such behavior of Georgian power, especially if we remember constant attempts of Tbilisi to turn Armenia into a hostage of Georgian energy trials with Russia.
