In 2009 they received 42,000, the UK received 29,800.

All the more reason to massively slash the conventional immigration for kicks if we have to take in such eyeball-rollingly high numbers of refugees. There's a worldful of people suffering, or claiming to, with only this small backwater in the scheme of things to shovel them to. We should take the needy only then.

Go on admit it, you just make up your numbers and hope that no one will check, don't you?

I admit that I misremembered news reports which turned out to actually forecast such a rise in immigrant numbers. It was 8% in 2001, 10% now and will eventually rise in a runaway effect.

But it's the total population figure of 78 million by 2050 which leaves me cold. Britain can hardly cope now, what with 8 million economically inactive, a crap NHS and everything grinding to a halt under 2mm of snow, etc.

Something stinks about those figures anyway. We've had millions come in since 2001, so how come the figure touted is just one measly percent? Someone miscounted?

BUREAUCRATS are planning to encourage more new migrants to come to the EU despite rising levels of unemployment, it emerged last night.

How else could you explain away something so daffy?

Apparently we needed plenty of immigrants pumped in to help us through the boom years. Now, all of a sudden, we're actually told we really need them when there's a recession! Talk about rubbing peoples' noses in it, in the manner of people from Labour!
