Jan. 22, on Twitter Trump stated: “One of the many great things about our just signed giant Trade Deal with China is that it will bring both the USA & China closer together in so many other ways. Terrific working with President Xi, a man who truly loves his country. Much more to come!”

“I think they made a horrible mistake and they didn’t want to admit it. We wanted to go in. They didn’t want us there,” Trump said during a Fox News virtual town hall on May 4. “This virus should not have spread all over the world. They should have put it out.”

Jan. 24, on Twitter: “China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American People, I want to thank President Xi!”

Jan. 29, Remarks at signing ceremony for the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement: “And, honestly, I think, as tough as this negotiation was, I think our relationship with China now might be the best it's been in a long, long time. And now it's reciprocal. Before, we were being ripped off badly. Now we have a reciprocal relationship, maybe even better than reciprocal for us.”

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office of the White House on May 7, Trump said: "We went through the worst attack we've ever had on our country, this is worst attack we've ever had."

Feb. 26, remarks at a business roundtable in New Delhi, India: “China is working very, very hard. I have spoken to President Xi, and they’re working very hard. And if you know anything about him, I think he’ll be in pretty good shape. They’re — they’ve had a rough patch, and I think right now they have it — it looks like they’re getting it under control more and more. They’re getting it more and more under control.”

"This is worse than Pearl Harbor, this is worse than the World Trade Center. There's never been an attack like this."

Feb. 27, Coronavirus Task Force press conference: “I spoke with President Xi. We had a great talk. He’s working very hard, I have to say. He’s working very, very hard. And if you can count on the reports coming out of China, that spread has gone down quite a bit. The infection seems to have gone down over the last two days. As opposed to getting larger, it’s actually gotten smaller.”

"And it should have never happened. Could've been stopped at the source. Could've been stopped in China. It should've been stopped right at the source. And it wasn't."

Feb. 29, Coronavirus Task Force press conference: “China seems to be making tremendous progress. Their numbers are way down. … I think our relationship with China is very good. We just did a big trade deal. We’re starting on another trade deal with China — a very big one. And we’ve been working very closely. They’ve been talking to our people, we’ve been talking to their people, having to do with the virus.”

“America is under attack — not just by an invisible virus, but by the Chinese.”

At February 29, your last quote, the world was still a functioning society, we did not of the lies until much later.

You then compare the quote on May 7th to the quotes in February but you have to understand there are in two COMPLETELY different situations.

America used to praise a lot of things but when times change, viewpoints shift, so whats your point?

We knew enough of the facts and the truth, though, long before Feb 29 for Trump to not have been kissing big sloppy ones on Xi's ass so much for so long:

UPDATED: Timeline of the Coronavirus | Think Global Health

But, your mind is impenetrable by facts and truth.

could you point out the dates before where China explicitly lied and Trump would have knowledge of it at that point?

I'm not talking about China's lies. I'm talking about Trump's stupidity in knowing the facts that China did not have control yet acting like everything was just hunky-dory and not taking more action sooner when such was so obvious. The dates I gave in my last post of what was happening in China makes clear how serious the situation had become with the disease having spread to a dozen countries, including the US, and Trump still praising Xi’s job of controlling the virus. But, just for grins and giggles, there’s the PDBs, the Presidential Daily Briefings, that Trump ignored to do with China not being forthcoming of all that was going on with the virus, while Trump continued to praise Xi. There is no particular paragraph of note. Pretty much the whole article is rife with Trump ignorance:

Trump Ignored Intel Briefings About Pandemic | Law & Crime

A most interesting study. I certainly agree that there was a failure to take more action sooner which resulted in more deaths than would have been otherwise. These are some rather large numbers, though, and I understand the research has not been peer-reviewed. It's an awful lot to throw out there without yet having been peer-reviewed or at least that caveat stated.

Indeed it is- thing is the models will be more accurate going forwards as more data is received and numbers crunched

"We knew enough of the facts and the truth, though, long before Feb 29 for Trump to not have been kissing big sloppy ones on Xi's ass so much for so long:"

So what lies would Trump have knowledge of?

My point is, Trump reacted slowly to the pandemic and that cost many American lives. As late as March 24, Trump was urging that the U.S. reopen by Easter weekend.

“We’re opening up this incredible country. Because we have to do that. I would love to have it open by Easter,” Trump remarked at a Fox News “virtual town hall” on the 24th.

There are dozens of his optimistic statements in January through March that border on fantasy. Later he knew he was wrong and his delay was deadly. It was time to blame somebody else, China, Obama, the WHO, the CDC, anyone other than himself.

As things were developing and he was receiving warnings from intelligence and medical experts, he should have kept his mouth shut because you are right about two different circumstances. Unfortunately, it is impossible for Trump to keep his mouth shut and await developments.

That is why I said, Trump is his own worse enemy.

I appreciate the assist. We have to be cognizant of the poster's huge task. Trying to defend Trump is an impossible task. At the Ford plant in Michigan today he made a fool of himself again. This is after he said he was taking a potent, dangerous drug against the advice of his own medical experts, CDC, FDA, and WHO.

Why anyone still supports this guy is a mystery.

So what lies would Trump have knowledge of?

That is the wrong question. The right question is, what did Trump know, or should have known, from his intelligence experts, his medical advisors, and the CDC?

The follow-up question is, why did he ignore the warnings and provide fantasies instead of hard information to the American people?

Instead, this is what he told Americans on February 27. "Of the 15 people — the “original 15,” as I call them — 8 of them have returned to their homes, to stay in their homes until fully recovered. One is in the hospital and five have fully recovered. And one is, we think, in pretty good shape and it’s in between hospital and going home."

Living in his own little world, Trump ignored the warnings and Americans died.

he did not react poorly, he wanted to economy to recover by easter, he layed out his economic plans then too and the curve has been flattening ever since

What statements? The WP stated that our fear of COVID is just our brain, the leftists did it way more

Trump shouldnt have kept his mouth shut, updating on our current situation is better

The Trump administration is looking for ways to punish China for its complacency amid the coronavirus pandemic without burning President Donald Trump's bid for a second term.

Doing that in a way that doesn't exacerbate an already-flailing US economy won't be easy. While tougher measures like increasing broad sanctions and tariffs are being discussed, administration officials are also examining options such as expanding a crackdown on China's 5G companies, as well as various political actions aimed at punishing Beijing.

Trump is already having to deal with the fact that his signature trade deal with China is underperforming. Weeks after the official implementation of Phase One of the deal, the pace of Chinese purchases of US goods is nowhere near what was promised, raising questions about whether Trump's 18-month trade war was worth the cost.

Many Americans, particularly farmers in strategic heartland states hit hard by Trump's trade war, were hoping the additional $200 billion in US exports to China as promised by the deal would bolster their bottom lines. But so far, China has bought less than half of the energy, farming and manufactured goods set out in the deal, according to some estimates, undermining an argument core to Trump's reelection effort: that he has successfully forced China to cut a better trade deal during his first term in office.

LOL China hoodwinked Trump into letting this country experience the worst epidemic in 100 years and you call it a shift of viewpoint? Why did he let China do that to us? Was he
naive or did he want 100,000 deaths and 15% unemployment?

You mean Trump didn't know until March 18th. But the military and intelligence agencies were briefing the President about the impending pandemic since November of last year. China fooled Trump all that time that was wasted. Remember? Watch this if you need to refresh your memory.

Naw, China didn't hoodwink Trump. Trump hoodwinked himself. He has no idea how to handle a crisis. Instead of dealing with the pandemic, Trump created fantasies.

As can be seen, his gullible followers believed his fantasies, but 70 to 80% of Americans did not.

Wow! That is one hell of a video. Everyone should take 30 seconds to view it in its entirety.

You are right but his goons still think he is tough on China and that is a joke. Trump actually thought he could wish the virus away and the results were catastrophic. We warned them about the danger of his ego and like everything else they ignored it.

So am I. Those are the lies Trump believed over his own intelligence briefings. He wasted over a month praising China and that left us helpless to stop it from spreading to all 50 States. If only he had listened to his own intelligence briefings instead of Xi.
