Apparently the author of the article is one of those idiots who would have us believe its the firearm itself and not the round it fires that can go through body armor. That somehow if there was another firearm that can fire the .277 Fury rounds then it wouldn't do the same damage. Like the same morons who would have us believe that AR-15 is somehow more dangerous than other firearms that fire the same size round. I am no firearm expert but I am pretty sure many rifle rounds will go through bullet proof vests, so this is just fear mongering on the article's author.SIG Sauer’s new MCX-SPEAR fires bullets with twice the kinetic energy of those from an AR-15. That means double the horrifying force that mangled the victims of the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, and left one youngster essentially decapitated. “It’ll shoot through almost all of the bulletproof vests that are worn by law enforcement in the county right now,” said Ryan Busse, a former firearms company executive who is now a senior policy analyst with the Giffords Law Center and author of Gunfight: My Battle Against the Industry that Radicalized America. The MCX-SPEAR is the civilian version of the U.S. Army’s NGSW-R (Next Generation Squad Weapon-Rifle), which was created with the express purpose of tearing through enemy body armor. “This is a weapon that could defeat any body armor, any planned body armor that we know of in the future,” then-Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley told the Army Times in 2019. “This is a weapon that can go out at ranges that are unknown today. Milley had in mind the body armor worn by Russian and Chinese troops. The Army just shrugged when asked this week whether the same could apply to that worn by cops.MSN

Awesome, bigger holes on children and cops even more terrified of their jobs.SIG Sauer’s new MCX-SPEAR fires bullets with twice the kinetic energy of those from an AR-15. ARs have been available in over 100 calibers for years, including most common hunting calibers. The civilian version of the .277 Fury will be rated closer to 50,000 psi rather the 80,000 psi of the military round, putting it in line with the common 6.5 Creedmoor.Awesome, bigger holes on children and cops even more terrified of their jobs.
JUst what we needed.
That's nice. I didn't read up on the particulars, and don't really care. They are marketing it as something that makes bigger holes in people. That's what this is about.ARs have been available in over 100 calibers for years, including most common hunting calibers. The .30-06 used in the M1 Garand of WWII fame has more energy than the civilian .277 Fury, and that's approaching 90 years of age.
The .35 Remington, introduced in the semiautomatic Remington Model 8 in 1905, has 50% more muzzle energy than the M193. 223 Remington cartridge.
The cartridge has a larger diameter. That's not marketing. That's physics. That's nice. I didn't read up on the particulars, and don't really care. They are marketing it as something that makes bigger holes in people. That's what this is about.
once again, don't care. Not the point here. The cartridge has a larger diameter. That's not marketing. That's physics.
It's being introduced to defeat enemy hard body armor. That's not going to enhance its capabilities against non-hardened targets. The civilian version, at a significantly higher cost than an AR-10, won't have any more capabilities than rifles currently on the market, or indeed in my gun safe.
The point is that the military wants a firearm that's more effective against enemies at longer ranges and with a better capability against troops with body armor. They've essentially reverted to 1959.once again, don't care. Not the point here.
That, sir, is freaking hilarious!
So it's a weapon of war. Point taken.ARs have been available in over 100 calibers for years, including most common hunting calibers. It's shooting a hunting/long distance round. The .35 Remington is a hunting round. The .30-06 is likely the most common big game cartridge in the US.So it's a weapon of war. Point taken.
It's a weapon of war and you made that perfectly clear in your post. Stop trying to deny it. Hunting animals is a dying sport and these are not for hunting animals unless they are on 2 legs. It's shooting a hunting/long distance round. The .35 Remington is a hunting round. The selective fire XM5 will be a "weapon of war" when issued. The MCX Spear that civilians can spend an exorbitant amount of money for will not be:
"That said, the civilian version of the MCX Spear is restricted to semi-automatic and is chambered in a proprietary .277 Fury cartridge. This is the commercial version of the hybrid 6.8x51mm round that SIG Sauer developed for the NGSW."
"The MCX Spear is being marketed as a novelty for civilian purchasers."
You can buy the Army's new rifle from SIG Sauer
The Army has also selected the scope that it will pair with its new rifle. SIG Sauer has released its NGSW-R to the civilian market.www.wearethemighty.com
It doesn't meet the Army specs and it won't fire the cartridge type-standardized for the military.
Available with 20 round mags. That ought to make the anti-gun types happy. It's shooting a hunting/long distance round. The .35 Remington is a hunting round. The .30-06 is likely the most common big game cartridge in the US.

I support your rage. I feel the same about the Krispy Kreme donut which was created explicitly to kill humans through the torture of diabetes and obesity based heart disease. It's a weapon of war and you made that perfectly clear in your post. Many gun enthusiasts disregard the deadly potential some kinds of handgun calibers have. However, any bullet – small or large – that travels at a high rate of speed will get through body armor. Huge handgun rounds such as .44 Magnum and .45 ACP will travel at slower speeds, which allows the body armor to stop them. However, .357 SIG and 9mm guns travel at a quicker speed and can’t stop them as easily.34 Things People Didn’t Know About Bulletproof Vests
Bulletproof vests are a vital piece of equipment for police officers, but there's more to them than meets the eye. In this article, we delve into the fascinatiwww.bodyarmornews.com
Important: The shells of a shotgun are very dangerous to bulletproof vests wearers because vests are not rated for these kinds of bullets. The reason? Shot shells do not have a consistent velocity.
It's not going to be used by the military and it doesn't even fire the same cartridge as the military firearm will. It's not a denial. The claim that it is a weapon of war, has been thoroughly disproven.Stop trying to deny it.
Hunting is very much alive and well, and quite popular, and these can and will be used to hunt 4 legged animals.Hunting animals is a dying sport and these are not for hunting animals unless they are on 2 legs.
Nope. Don't care about your silly deflections, and that is really all they are. Useless, meaningless, deflections from a desperate gun hugger who wants this to not look as bad as it does."I don't care if what I am saying is actually correct" is a strategy, I suppose.
