Ever since I can remember, both parties have put out a party platform when an election is coming. A party platform explains in detail that the party is all about, what the goals are, and what important issues are supported and sought.

This year, the Republicans did not put out a platform other than "Support Trump".

As such, the platform is what Trump wants it to be. If he changes his mind on abortion, the Republicans will support it. If he changes his mind on fiscal responsibility, his supporters will support him. If he changes his mind on free individuals in a free society, his followers will support him, if he changes his mind on women's rights, his supporter will support him, if he changes his mind on veterans, on the inalienable rights, his supporters will support him. This is the first time ever where the Republican Party is no long Republican but Trumpian, supporting one man and not any principles other than what that one man wants.

Here are some of the party platforms from the past.

What do you think about this?

Are you in agreement with no party platform? Do you think this is a good or bad thing? will it make Trump win or lose the 2020 election?

It's no different than what's been happening. His supporters will support him no matter what he's gonna' get thirty five percent of the vote. It's all the others he needs to worry about. When you had no agenda for your first term other than the tax cut for corporate america and the super wealthy, why not have a repeat?

They're hoping to somehow avoid future accounting for their historically corrupt negligence. They are, by choice, stuck, and, I assume, they feel there will be no day of reckoning.

It's good, since everything government touches turns to crap. No platform means not turning anything else into crap. My hope is that Trump wins and spends every day on the golf course.

Yeah, why bother with a platform when everyone will know it's a huge lie. If they told the truth the platform would be: Whatever our dear leader wants. More dead Americans from inaction on the Coronavirus, more personal enrichment for Trump, his family and their rich friends, increasing Russian collusion, no more need for get-out-of-jail-free cards because Trump will fully control who gets justice and who evades it, a sparkling new authoritarian government, no need to ever vote again: Don Jr. is next in line, and on and on...

The above nonsense is easy to debunk. The 2020 GOP platform is the same as the 2016 platform.

There is an explanation for this but I'm betting you're not interested in knowing why....

I disagree with there being no Party Platform because, as you point out, it makes sure that he promises nothing so he can be held to nothing. It replaces principles and policy goals with personal rule.

The only thing that matters is defeating the Marxists. All else is secondary.

You have been misinformed. There is a Republican Party Platform. The Republican National Committee's Executive Committee voted on June 10, 2020, to adopt the same platform the party used in 2016. This is not uncommon, and happens with both parties, particularly when their candidate is the incumbent. In 2004 the RNC Exective Committee adopted the 2000 party platform. In 2012 the DNC Executive Committee adopted the 2008 party platform.

It is typically when one party loses an election that they will make revisions to their party platform. Why would they revise the platform if their candidate won?

Except that there is an Republican Party Platform for 2020 and the OP was lying, as usual.

"Officially" there is no party platform written outlining the Republicans goals. There is no way you can spin that as the platform is what every person thinks it is. Bottom line, they decided not to put it in writing this time.

Officially there is, as of June 10, 2020, and you are simply lying, as usual and as expected.

show me where your statement is true.

Here is the "official" party platform as stated on gop.com (official Republican party website}

As Adopted by the Republican National Committee
Paid for by the Republican National Committee
Not Authorized By Any Candidate Or Candidate's Committee
RESOLUTION REGARDING THE REPUBLICAN PARTY PLATFORM
WHEREAS, The Republican National Committee (RNC) has significantly scaled back the size
and scope of the 2020 Republican National Convention in Charlotte due to strict restrictions on
gatherings and meetings, and out of concern for the safety of convention attendees and our hosts;
WHEREAS, The RNC has unanimously voted to forego the Convention Committee on Platform,
in appreciation of the fact that it did not want a small contingent of delegates formulating a new
platform without the breadth of perspectives within the ever-growing Republican movement;
WHEREAS, All platforms are snapshots of the historical contexts in which they are born, and
parties abide by their policy priorities, rather than their political rhetoric;
WHEREAS, The RNC, had the Platform Committee been able to convene in 2020, would have
undoubtedly unanimously agreed to reassert the Party’s strong support for President Donald
Trump and his Administration;
WHEREAS, The media has outrageously misrepresented the implications of the RNC not
adopting a new platform in 2020 and continues to engage in misleading advocacy for the failed
policies of the Obama-Biden Administration, rather than providing the public with unbiased
reporting of facts; and
WHEREAS, The RNC enthusiastically supports President Trump and continues to reject the
policy positions of the Obama-Biden Administration, as well as those espoused by the
Democratic National Committee today; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Republican Party has and will continue to enthusiastically support the
President’s America-first agenda;
RESOLVED, That the 2020 Republican National Convention will adjourn without adopting a
new platform until the 2024 Republican National Convention;

RESOLVED, That the 2020 Republican National Convention calls on the media to engage in
accurate and unbiased reporting, especially as it relates to the strong support of the RNC for
President Trump and his Administration; and
RESOLVED, That any motion to amend the 2016 Platform or to adopt a new platform, including
any motion to suspend the procedures that will allow doing so, will be ruled out of order.

i don't support them becoming the Tweetycult party, but at least they're being honest about this. "Platform? Our platform is whatever Dear Leader says it is!"

I just put out the official platform in the previous post. Tell me if that is what you expected to see?

After listening to the Democrat National Convention I have narrowed the Democrat Party platform down to two words - Trump bad.

Saving us from China seems like at least 1 plank of the 2 plank platform. Cut more taxes being the other one.

That may very well be all he needs to win. In a declining economy, Biden's tax and spend agenda is going to get some stinkeye.

Worry more about the democrat platform

All it amounts to is Hate Trump, raise taxes, and enact more abusive regulations.

Having a platform allows a person to have specific goals and if the leaders do not follow them then you have a clear reason to criticize them for not keeping their promises. Here is the Democratic platform

In the case of the Republicans, not having a platform other than support Trump and beat the enemy means that you cannot hold the leaders responsible as there is nothing they need to stand for except fighting the enemy. That means the leader can do anything HE wants and does not need to be accountable for anything that goes wrong. Right away and if Trump loses the election, he has failed and that also means the Republicans have absolutely nothing they stand for except fighting the enemy and the problem then exists that the enemy is ourselves, our own country.

This is against everything we have ever stood for and what our ancestors stood for. This is no longer a nation but a cesspool of fighting. You, as the Republican party, criticize the BLM riots, then it is hypocritical because the party platform is supporting fighting the Democrats and it supports it officially.

I don't know about you but is fighting within ourselves is what you support and promote? Are you proud of having a goal of destroying your neighbor who is also a citizen of your country simply because they have goals different than yours?

If that is the case, then you are not a person that has any value. You don't fight to be a better person but fight to destroy.

You said it. There should be "some" platform but there isn't. What does that tell you? No goals other than to support Trump. Is that your idea of being a party that stands for something?
