No One Is Talking About The Direct Pipeline From Divorced Parents To School Shooters

I've stated over and over the breakdown in family structure, including the absence of a father in the home, has negatively impacted our society.

"Correlation does not imply causation" means that just because two things are related or occur together, it doesn't mean one directly causes the other. The observed association could be a coincidence, or it could be due to a hidden third factor (confounder) influencing both. For example, ice cream sales and sunburns both increase in the summer, but ice cream doesn't cause sunburns; the shared cause is the warm, sunny weather.

And that's what I'm getting at that I'll just get at: they don't ****ing care about any families. They continually legislate against families, against kids. The anti vax mandate is amazingly hostile towards every family that sends their kids to public schools. Their constant voting to cut school lunches. And their fav subject - their continued support of systemic racism that continually brutalizes non whites in this country, especially Black people.

And then we get to the part where they voted for a serial adulterer who's own kids couldn't even recollect anything about their childhood with him except one time he took Ivanka's call during a meeting.

But we're gonna hear about woke culture and Taylor Swift or whatever.
 
I’m all about wishing kids got to grow up in intact families. Fully support that. Think having a family and a home filled with love and routine and structure is incredibly important to a kid.

I think it would be great if every kid got to grow up in a loving family with both of their parents, extended families and a strong social network of loving people involved in their lives.

I’d also love to see every kid have all the food, medicine, school supplies, clothes, etc that they need. And a good helping of the things they want.



But we can’t magically make parents and families be happy and stay together.



Our current administration is stripping food stamps away from people, stripping Medicaid away from people, making life more expensive for families, removing social safety nets and also attacking educational, medical and scientific institutions.


And we haven’t even touched on the guns.

One program that has achieved excellent results is Head Start.

Here we go:

The $750 million in proposed cuts to Head Start and Early Head Start included in the House Labor/HHS/Education Appropriations Subcommittee FY24 bill would have a devastating impact – when combined with the impact of inflation, roughly 80,000 fewer children would lose access to the life changing services of Head Start. In addition, workforce shortages would be exacerbated due to continued under-compensation, and the additional services that make Head Start and Early Head Start a powerful intervention for children from the most at-risk backgrounds would have to be curtailed.

  • Head Start children are more likely to receive dental checkups and have healthy eating patterns than non-participants. They have lower BMI scores and are less likely to be overweight compared to children in other non-parental care. (Lee et al., 2013)
  • When families participate in Head Start (as opposed to no early childhood education), children are 93% less likely to end up in foster care, a correlation not found by participating in any other types of early childhood education. (Klein et. al., 2017)
  • Children show additional gains in social-emotional development as a result of participating in Head Start at both 3 and 4 years old. (Aikens et al., 2013)

And let's also talk about what culture we want to aspire to: they shit all over any woman who is working and doesn't have kids, but not a word about the tech bros who don't seem to give a single shit about a single thing. They value nothing but money, and because they have these great lives funded by the company they can't imagine why rank and file employees don't wish to work 80 hours a week. Elon Musk is held in great esteem by the right and yet his entire lifestyle and created work environment is the epitome of being anti-family.

Republicans hate family. Family means weeknights and weekends with family, not working hard core to sell 8 more EVs that month.

Or money. If you're rich enough, you can pay other people to raise your children. Send them to the best schools, summer camps, and tutors. They may not feel loved, but they probably won't turn into a violent criminal either.

And if you look further, I'm betting you'll find all sorts of maladies associated with broken homes. Broken homes = bad. Happy families = good.
