The official newspeak for mother and father is now "person who gave birth" and "person who contributed sperm." Honestly. You can see this kind of terminology at state and federal government websites.

Frankly, I know lots of sperm donors and people who gave birth that don't meet my standards for father or mother.

It's gotten that bad.

Even if you disagree with a progressive view of gender, this type of language just is more accurate. For example, if there is a gay couple and one of them contributes sperm they are both still fathers but one of them is the biological father. Father/mother doesn't mean biological father/mother.

Within the framework of a progressive view of gender mother and father are still very much accepted terms. We just believe a trans woman can be a mother in the same way a foster mother is still a mother, despite not being the biological mother.

Got a link to one of these government websites?

Annoying but it does need to be updated considering the advances in science.

The OP is simply reporting it.
