You know what's important in a political forum? Niceness! No raised voices, no strong opinions ... just niceness. Niceness and politeness. Debating with a fool? No need to tell him that, instead, just be nice to him, and there will be that much more niceness in the world! Do you think the truth is the most important thing in the world? Well, you're wrong. (Hope I didn't say that too unnicely!) Niceness is the nicest thing there is! So don't rale against the brainwashed, the sophomoric, the astoundingly ignorant, and BY ALL MEANS - DON'T USE NOT NICE WORDS! Oh, excuse me for yelling - that wasn't very nice. Have a nice day!

Absolutely. There is a reason that "civility" and "civic" share a root word; regarding your countrymen as respected members of your community is the very basis of a unified and strong country.

There is no need for strong opinions to be matched with harsh words. If polite words will not serve, we can always resort to our fists or our guns.

How many gunfights can be resolved with words?

Believing that you hold a monopoly on truth-- or that those who disagree with you must be ignorant-- is a dangerous form of social delusion.

By all means, stand up for what you believe in. I will disagree with you, but we can disagree as gentlemen; the truth will come out either way, and wiser heads than ours will decide how to react to it.

We gain nothing from insults.

"Niceness," in debate, is for people who are either going to get walked all over or for people who lack the skills to make someone look like an a$$ without insulting them.

...Like what I just did.

There is nothing wrong with being nice, but it's not always a requirement in a debate, but civility is, and one should always try to remain civil. We all fail in that respect on occasion, and some even need to be reminded of that, but I feel civil discourse is always the best option.;)

“Democracy is a means of living together despite our differences. Democratic deliberation is an alternative to physical violence. It is predicated on the assumption that it’s possible to disagree agreeably, that it’s better to laugh than cry, that one can vigorously contest the positions of one’s adversary without questioning his or her personal integrity or motivation, and that parties to a debate are entitled to the presumption that their views are legitimate if not correct.”

There is a time to be nice and a time not to be nice.Sometime the truth is like a steel baseball bat and some times a few skulls can get cracked when used.Sometimes a lie is like a pillow and people would rather be hit upside their head with it instead of the truth.

Ah, yes. The Political Correctness Squad is at it again. You know, sometimes one has to be mean to an individual, especially if that individual is being foolish.

This is just more liberal bullcrap telling me how to talk, live, and feel. Well I've got this to say, pi$$ off!

And on other thing, while you libbies have the PCS, the republicans have the Censorship Squad (CS) which is pretty much the same thing as PCS.

You get the respect that you give...........
