NFL Playoffs

How many great defensive lines have played against the Vikings this season?

The NFC North played against the NFC East and AFC West. Minnesota's NFC West opponent was Seattle. San Francisco has one of the best.

I agree. Clowney did not need to hit Wentz like that.

They played against the Packers twice and lost. They have a good pass rush.

If the Vikings win, it will mean Kirk Cousins elevated his team and outplayed porn star Jimmy. I am not willing to make that bet.

Porn star? Jimmy has one job: quarterback. Nothing else.

His nickname has always been Jimmy G.

That’s just Bucky’s nickname for him. He’s just butthurt because once Tommy Boy is gone, they no longer have a competent QB, and the Patriots are going to look like the Cleveland Browns.

The Patriots will never look like the Cleveland Brown's with Kraft and Belichick at the helm.

That is a fantasy that you and other low info football fans dwell in.

I mean your Ravens won a SB with Flacco so i'm not overly concerned yet.

And players who are much better at their positions than Joe Flacco ever was. (You might remember who they retired #52 for.) Those guys are gone.

Bucky's butthurtedness is probably exacerbated because the 49ers obtained Jimmy G from the Pats....for a 2nd round draft pick.
Ouch.........well I'm sure NE used that draft pick to draft a Brady successor.......ooops....they didn't.
Sad.

I can top that.
The Ravens also won Super Bowl 35 with Trent Dilfer at QB.
Overwhelming defense carried the day.

I had expected a Saints-Ravens SB, but that is not to be. I'd like to pick the Seahawks (my team) to win the NFC, but it's so hard to bet on them as banged up as they are (having lost almost all their running backs (welcome back Beast Mode!) and half the D line). Yet, they still have Russell, and I never, ever bet against him. Packers (my family's team) and Seahawks play next. That should be a great game. I was happy to see Brady humbled, but sorry that the Saints had another "no call" loss... Again! Looked like OPI to me!

Still, that was a great set of wild card games, TWO overtime wins, and three last-play finishes. Wow.

That year Baltimore's defense was one of the best in NFLf history. Terrell Suggs, Ray Lewis, Peter Boulware, Ed Reed . . .

Nobody can convince me it was not OPI but the game would have ended in regulation if Sean Payton had played to win instead of "not to lose" in the last three minutes. He had a timeout to use and never called it.

I was thinking today the most fitting Super Bowl matchup for the NFL's 100th season would be Green Bay/Kansas City - the first Super Bowl matchup in 1967. That is the one I want.

After seeing the reply, disciplinary action is justified.......
BS. I've seen this argument before, what would the basis be? The hit was not late, and he led with his shoulder. What's the foul?

In RetiredUSN defense, it appears you didn't watch the game.

When you claim Clowney's hit wasn't dirty, you are either blind or a fanatic Seahawks fan.

Wentz suffered a serious head injury. His career could be in jeopardy. He was literally knocked out of the game.

Being injured in football does not justify a penalty. Everyone playing the game knows this. If you don't know the rulebook, don't pretend you do. It WAS NOT a penalty situation, as I noted in my last post. I'm really sorry Wentz was hurt, as he's a favorite of mine and he's had ****ty luck, but that does not equate to a penalty. It was not a dirty hit. If you feel it is, you don't know the rules of football, or.. maybe it is a hometown view of the play? (Kinda like the broadcasters' approach to calling the game, according to my Packers family.)

It was unnecessary roughness because Bobby McDougald was already tackling Carson Wentz, who at that point became a defenseless player. Also, Jadeveon Clowney hit the back of Wentz's helmet headfirst.

Seriously, kids, have you never played football? One never assumes a tackle has been made until the ref blows the whistle, unless you were badly coached.. I think this Kerfuffle is the result of overuse of slow motion replays which makes it seem like this was some drawn out melodrama. McDougald was tackling Wentz, yes, but so was Clowney. He led with his shoulder (appropriately) and was turning away when he made contact, so he couldn't know in the moment that Wentz was effectively down, or else he would have hit him higher, which was his aim point. The refs were right at the time, in the moment. The problem with the league is that they look at the result of the play, and not the actual in-game situation.

I was disappointed, like everyone else, that we didn't get to see a Wentz-Wilson duel to the death, but I actually thought Josh McCown played his heart out in the game and left it all out on the field. The problem, I think, is that the Eagles rely too much on Wentz, just like the Seahawks put too much on Wilson. That is not a reliable formula for championship football. The Seahawks have yet to put together a complete game this year, which is not how you get to the Superbowl. I think the Ravens are going to take it all, anyway. Lamar is just a monster.

This is my last post on this side topic, but the best explanation I've found anywhere: Wyman football 101

Deshaun Watson of the Texans being hit by two Buffalo defenders simultaneously and then running away while the defenders laid crumpled on the ground proves the play isn't over till the whistle blows.
