NFL gane suspended player given CPR

I learned a long time ago, as a public speaker, that it is the speaker's responsibility to be understandable, and not the audience's responsibility to try to make sense of the speaker.
I learned the same thing when I went to the instructor training course in the Army.

Back to the topic. The latest report is that he is still in critical condition but showing improvement. I'll be anxious to learn if he has been weaned from the ventilator. It can be a tricky and scary process (my wife has been through it several times). I'm wishing him the best.

Cincy won the game 7 to 3... end of the story... game over...

Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours. While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress.11 mins ago

A truly amazing response from America!

Damar Hamlin's GoFundMe hits $7 million after Bills safety's cardiac arrest on 'Monday Night Football'

Two days after Hamlin's collapse and hospitalization caused the suspension of a "Monday Night Football" game, his only available public fundraiser has reached a total of $7 million. The original goal of the GoFundMe, set up to fund a toy drive in his hometown of McKees Rocks, Pa., was $2,500.

Over 220,000 people have donated to the cause.

We're simply awestruck by the level of support and generosity we've seen over the past two days. With over $6 million raised, this fundraiser has become an overnight reminder of the incredible nature of humankind. Your actions directly reflect the type of human Damar is himself.

That is all good news. Almost everything else can heal relatively quickly, but neurological damage would be difficult to address.

Damar Hamlin’s first question after waking up was ‘did we win?’ doctor says, days after his cardiac arrest during NFL game

Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin is awake in a Cincinnati hospital, is neurologically sound and is moving his hands and feet, doctors said Thursday, news that has drawn relief and joy from supporters nationwide days after the 24-year-old’s in-game cardiac arrest.

And his first question upon awakening?

“Did we win?” Hamlin scribbled on a clipboard, according to Dr. Timothy Pritts, vice chair for clinical operations at UC Health.

“Yes, Damar, you won. You’ve won the game of life,” Pritts said at a news conference in Cincinnati Thursday afternoon, paraphrasing the response of one of his medical partners.

Hamlin remains on a ventilator, and has been communicating with yes and no answers by shaking his head, nodding or writing brief notes, according to Pritts.

“So, we know that it’s not only that the lights are on, we know that he’s home. And that it appears all cylinders are firing within his brain,” Pritts said.

NFL announced that the Week 17 Buffalo Bills at Cincinnati Bengals game will not be resumed and has been canceled. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed all clubs of his decision earlier today, after speaking with the Bills, the Bengals and NFL Players Association leadership.

I was so happy to hear he was awake and doing better. Lots of people were hoping he'd pull thorough this. I hope he continues to get better and have a full recovery, that would be great.

This is the latest report:

Doctors say Bills S Damar Hamlin's 'substantial improvement' marks 'a really good turning point in his ongoing care'

"He continues to be critically ill. He continues to undergo intensive care in our surgical and trauma ICU. He's being cared for by ICU neuro-critical care teams, trauma surgery and a cardiology team, as well as our expert nurses and respiratory therapists. They are attending to him, and he still has significant progress that he needs to make. But this marks a really good turning point in his ongoing care."

In order to be upgraded from critical to stable, Pritts said doctors will need to be able to remove Hamlin's breathing tube and have him show continual neurological and respiratory improvement.

Pritts said Thursday they have been able to discuss with Hamlin the events of Monday night. Hamlin currently is not able to speak due to his intubation, but he is able to express himself via pen and paper or head movement.

Best news...... Going home. Seems he may play again?
