Democrats overtly take glee in the Foley's election-timely exposure while they fail to look within.

- U.S. Rep. Mel Reynolds, D-Ill., preyed on a 16-year-old and was convicted by a jury with charges of sexually assaulting a minor, child pornography and obstructing justice. It was revealed this same underage girl was going to bring a 15-year-old into the fest for a ménage a trois. Additionally, Reynolds was convicted on multiple charges of wire fraud, bank fraud and lying to the Federal Election Commission. Reynolds, a black man, claimed the charges against him were racially spawned, and he refused to step down. He did not leave office until after his conviction. He was pardoned by Bill Clinton and eventually given a paid position in one of Jesse Jackson's organizations.

- U.S. Rep. Gerry Studds, D-Mass., was censured by the House in 1983 for his 1973 sexual relationship with a boy (a congressional page). Studds even got this kid on a trip to Portugal. That must be the minors-volunteer-as-a-page-and-see-the-world program of our Congress. Studds later stated, "I am both an elected public official and gay." Was that supposed to be his defense?

- U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., has his own 1989 scandal with the discovery of his living with a young male prostitute (on Frank's payroll). This hooker was reportedly also trafficking out of Frank's home.

- U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., killed a young woman from "the office" who was unfortunate enough to have been partying with him. The "investigation" resulted in zip. Mary Jo Kopechne wasn't a minor, but she died at the hands of Ted Kennedy. Kennedy is now serving his 44th year as one of the elite 100 senators.

- Nancy Pelosi accused Tom DeLay of taking a trip funded by lobbyists. the ensuing investigation exposed several of her democratic colleagues doing the same as well as her own violations, leading all others in the number accepted from lobbyists. Pelosi immediately dropped the accusations against DeLay and demanded that all the violaters, especially herself, be allowed to re-file the paperwork (cook the books) to erase the evidence of the violations AFTER the fact to avoid punishment.

- Harry Reid, most recently, was exposed for his participation in some land scam, violating Senate rules. Pulling a Pelosi, while dondming Foleya dn calling for his resignation, Reid declared that he would gladly file the necessary paperwork AFTER THE FACT/VIOLATION to avoid punishment.

Gotta love those rock-throwing hypocrites who live in glass houses!

Of course, the bottom line/fact/message, that neither party has any moral ground above the other and that both parties have their own issues to deal with, of this thread will be lost. The thread will immediately be targeted for attack and ridicule. Not one of the facts regarding the individuals above is wrong, but that will be ignored, and this will be called some Partisan post meant for no other reason than to attack the Dems.

No, this post was to remind all, especially the libs who have been saying only the GOP has problems and is the only ones with a 'culture of corruption', that Washington is full of scam artists, crooks, murderers, liars, thieves, betrayers, and perverts. instead of covering them up, instead of diverting attention away from one scandal by pointing out another one across the aisle, they ought to be throwing them ALL out!

Newsflash, though - that ain't gonna happen! They work in tandem when they have to. Pelosi dropping charges against DeLay when her own violations were exposed is a perfect example of how they cover each others' backs when it benefits them instead of addressing the violations and punishing the violators!!

You - the American voter - is going to have to do it with your vote! I have been hearing this garbage about how voters are going to "HAVE TO hold their nose and vote for Foley on the up-coming ballot just so they don't give up a seat"!? What a crock of CR@P! Foley hosed himself and the GOP! I am not voting for a PERV just so the GOP can hang on to another seat! And I certainly wouldn't listen to or vote for any moron that told me that is what I had to do, either!

You can bet I would not reward someone like Pelosi, who declared to Time magazine lately that she and her fellow Dems have been engaged in Obstructionist politics the last 6 years so frustration at nothing done would builfd to the point where America would vote the Dems back in, by voting for her! She admitted in TIME that she has consciously put her and the Democratic Party's agenda ahead of what is best for the United States these last6 years in order to get personal and party power back! If THAT ain't the definition of someone who shouldbe sent home in Washington, then I don't know what is!

Point is, the criminals in Washington aren't representing us anymore - they are in it for themselves! Time to start sending some of those SOBs - for both sides of the aisle - home!

This ain't a 'Democratic Party' or a 'GOP' thing - IT'S AN 'AMERICA 1st' THING!

Excellent point. Using Foley's abuse of a page for political gain is morally reprehensible by the democrats. And certainly somebody will point out that Republicans have used similar tactics before. My response is this "You are correct. Lets bury both the bastards and move on".

Concerning the recent republican roguess, I cannot vote against members of congress who do not represent me. I can't move to their home state just to vote against them. I would love to send a message to my party (Republican) but they have ignored me in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

My only option, then, is to lean left in my own state during the next 2 elections. I have to vote against my Republican leaders in my state in order for them to get the idea that they cannot continue to look the other way when their compadres from other states break the law.

So an otherwise honest (we think), caring (we hope), and competent (you get the idea) congressman may be replaced by a Democrat who is at least new to the system and will take some time learning to game the system.
Incumbents like to brag about their experience when facing a political newcomer, but the kind of experience they have is often not the kind they should be bragging about.

Do some digging 1st to find out how many Democratic leaders in your state that you will choose to vote for, if any, were in office and stood by during all the many democratic scandals, turning a blind hypocritical eye to what was going on when THEY were in power. In other words, don't vote against a Republican in office just because he is in office during a time of scandal. If we got rid of all the politicians who have either committed scandals/crimes AND the ones who were simply in office when crimes and scandals took place, there would be no one left in Washington!

Judge and vote on the MAN/WOMAN, not the party as a complete whole! We don't vote for parties (or not supposed to) - we are supposed to vote for the men and women who want to represent us, no matter what party they belong to!

So far, my choices are long term incumbent Republicans, or new guy Democrats. And what would be so bad about there being no one left in Washington?

Never said there would be a problem with that, Utah! In fact, cleaning the slate and starting over with all new politicians seems like a great idea. In the beginning, our Founding Fathers believed that serving in the goverment should be like Jury Duty - average Americans taking turn serving and doing what is best for the country. they correctly believed thatit should not be a career because it would lead to corruption and...basically what it is today!
