New York Times reporter slammed for seeking ‘opposition research’ on Christian schools

Yeah, sorry, Fox news selling a story about media bias. What a joke. Of course, the biggest biased crap network out there at it again with their "everybody else is so biased" act to sell to their stupid viewers

You're missing the point. Levin's call to 'expose Christian schools' comes in the wake of the medias fabricated story on the Covington High School kids wearing MAGA hats. A NYT reporter fishing for dirt and horror stories about Christian schools suggests he's going to try to use the interest regarding Covington, to paint Christian schools with a broad brush. As someone who's told endlessly that the actions of some are not indicative of a whole group of people, it strikes me as odd that no one is acknowledging how the media behaves in this manner on a regular basis.

He didn't create that hashtag, as the twitter post even stated. Also, his post even said including positive stories.

cue this up to yet another pathetic christian persecution complex.

the religion that has terrorized and **** on the most people, whininig about being persecuted because they can't freely discriminate, **** on everybody, and shove their dumb religion down everybody's throat anymore

Levin changed his post to include solicitation of positive stories, after the tweet went viral. His initial tweet did not ask for both sides.

You must not be familiar with the Jewish and Muslim grievance industries. There are multimillion dollar organizations in the USA which exist solely to overinflate the public's perception of Jewish and Islamic persecution. These organizations wield enormous influence over the media and politics. I can think of several organizations off the top of my head who fit the description, yet know of no Christian organizations involved in exploiting a 'Christian persecution complex'.

How are you reaping the rewards of a fractured, divided nation? Do you enjoy the headlines in the news about school shootings, drug overdose epidemics, and rising suicide rates? None of these were major issues 40 years ago, when the country remained majority white and Christian. We're experiencing the chaos and confusion that accompanies the transition into primitiveness. But at least you won't be burdened by someone wanting to tell you about Christianity!

If you'll remember a little speech from Obama when he was in Ireland I think, he spoke of getting rid of religious schools in the name of equality.

Sick bastards of the devil...

For sure, Christianity is the last acceptable outlet for hatefulness and bigotry for those who would otherwise be opposed to such behavior. I watch people in here, who would fight to the death to defend pretty much any other demographic, engage in some pretty hateful garbage when it comes to discussing Christianity.

That said, when you don't show up for others, you can hardly expect others to show up for you. Sometimes we build our own prisons and guillotines. Another few hundred more years of this, and maybe we'll understand what it's like to be a marginalized minority. ;)

GREAT defense of the religion of Islam, if you support that women are nothing more than animals and people who do bow down multiple times a day facing East should be beat, imprisoned or executed you're right.

Followers of Islam have murdered more as a percentage of human population in history than any other and in modern times the greatest mass murderers have been atheists.

I've often said that Islam's largest body of Western converts will come from the irreligious left who can only conceptualize Islam based upon the race of its adherents, rather than it's merits.

The MAGA hat has become a symbol of racism, division and hatred. That the MAGA crowd can't understand that is unsurpprising. Doesn't change anything though.

BUZZZ...Wrong.

The MAGA Hat has become a symbol of Libbie failure, and the subsequent Libbie hatred.

I'm no Christian. Far from it. But that's MY beliefs. And unfortunately for the NYT and all the flakey readers of said propaganda, Christians have just as much "right" to believe what they do, as I do to have my beliefs...whatever they are. As you all do. The issue here...they bald-faced issue...is that Christians are perceived to have voted for Trump. And for the Libbie mentality, there is no bigger crime against humanity.

Hatred...Its driven normal people to condemn young Christian kids on a school trip. Triggered by the very vision of a few red MAGA hats.
I sure wish these ugly people would just grow up a bit...

The problem is not what people believe until that point when they tell others what to believe.

Whether fanatical Christian, jihadi Muslim or radical Hindu, it is not the religion that is the problem but the fact they demand that all people follow their beliefs - or else.

Believe what you wish to believe but if you are a government employee or a business operator selling to the public, you should not be able to refuse to serve anyone based on your personal beliefs. Unfortunately, in America today we have a group that apparently believes their religion trumps all laws. This faith-based bias when combined with politicians willing to say anything for just one more vote is creating a sad time for the nation.

I don't recall any Christians demanding that you prostrate yourself and give up your heathen ways. I don't even recall any Christian demanding that all people follow their faith. They may tell you it's Christ or the Highway to Hell but it's still your choice.

So save the incendiary rhetoric for the Muslims and those like them.

Ironic you say this as just yesterday was Holocaust remembrance day.

The hoodie has become a symbol of BLM and ANTIFA thugs. How's that work for ya?
Black youth in hoodies=division, hatred and violence.
That work? Make sense to you?

I do not agree with your analogy. The "hoodie" is not a partisan symbol, nor is it a unique identifier for the BLM or ANTIFA . There are young teenagers who wear hoodies and are not members of the BLM or the ANTIFA.
The point is that a MAGA hat is a partisan symbol with a divisive slogan similar to the "Yes, we can" when Obama was president. It was a poor choice to carry such divisive attire for that particular day and event. It was like the kids were trying to bait some hot head.

This sad sack right here.

Just wondering but...does it hurt you physically...to have such a dark and ugly heart?
People are free, in the USA, to believe in whatever religion they please. And although you too can believe what you like, the way you express your disdain for Christianity is...ugly. I've come to believe that the Libbie doctrine of "inclusiveness" and "moral superiority" is just a disguise to hide their true intent. Totalitarianism.

I think that's awesome, bud. And I would be the last person in here to attempt to paint the Church in a negative light. However, as Christians, we understand that we can never be perfect, that we are going to mess up, and often. The Crusades and the Inquisition are famous examples of that, and ones often quoted by Christians because the time since makes it somewhat more comfortable to admit. But residential schools for Native kids operated until the 90's up here, and some denominations still advocate for sending their gay children to conversion therapy. And that doesn't even begin to address some of the problematic, weaponized version of our faith some denominations practice.

Under-celebrating works and over scrutinizing sin is pretty Biblical. The attitude we face today didn't take shape in a vacuum. We need to own our contributions to the current state, and do what we can to fix them. Given our practice of repentance, this shouldn't be all that controversial. Yes, the Church does great works, can have a great impact on the communities where they are located, and fund a lot of things that serve Christians and non-Christians alike. But only Christ is perfect, and even He couldn't pull that off while he was here...must be something in the water. ;)

Sorry if my writing style is a little too flippant, I really appreciated your response, and I'm sorry about your Dad. I come from a church that does that sort of thing as well, and it's a great witness, often better than all the sermons in the world - works often speak louder than words, as it were.

No worries, my friend. I went to that church as a teenager and enjoyed the social events. They were pretty open and were a lot of fun. Clean fun.
They had a gym and rooms in the gym with pool tables and reading rooms, even places to practice with your guitar.
They even separated themselves from the baptist dogma when the Baptists said they could not hold dances in the gym because Baptists hate dancing.
They held the dances anyway, and just dropped the Baptist from their name.
Now they are Sagemont Church instead of Sagemont Baptist church.

Don't worry about my Dad either. I did not cry one tear. My main memories of him are drunken beatings and really stupid advice when i asked.
I have no memories of either parent's nurturing. I knew i was on my own at about eight years old.
The only love i knew in the darkness of my despairs was from my cats.
They are gone, but my cats love was and is perpetual.

God be with you, my friend.

Don't read any of those librul books and newspapers that contradict your beliefs, do ya? Pastors Praise Anti-Gay Massacre in Orlando Christian preacher says gays should be executed because the Bible commands it Worker fired for refusing to attend Bible study Court: Georgia Worker Not Protected from Firing Because of Sexual Orientation and of course Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, KS. God hates fags and all proud sinners (Psalm 5:5). Repent or perish (Luke 13:3).

You're full of folly, Somerville. Those references aren't legitimate Bible teachings.

And leave it to you and your nonsense to dredge up a satire site like Westboro.

Dust off your Bible and quit believing unbiblical nonsense, no matter where or who it comes from.

Ridiculed? Yeah, it does get that. Singled out? No way. It's impossible to quantify but there's miles to go before Christianity gets near as much ridicule and abuse as Islam.
I bet this gets proven in this thread.

When Christians start strapping bomb belts on women and children to kill the enemy, get back to me. Some people need ridiculing, and I don't mean those who harmlessly try to hand you a Bible.

Red:

  • Fox's web page seems to have no trouble accessing myriad tweets railing against Dan Levin, the reporter being discussed.
  • Per the article, some critics have lambasted Levin for what they "are calling [his] slanted report on Christian schools in America." Has Levin's article even been published? The Fox article doesn't link to it....
    • If Levin's article hasn't been published, the critics' acrimony is premature.
      • "The article Levin hasn't yet written and published is slanted." Really? How would you know?
  • The Fox News article, in each instance where is supposed to appear Dan Levin's tweets, is found the following:

"Whoops! We couldn't access this Tweet."

Moreover, the Fox article doesn't so much as suggest Levin sought to ridicule Christianity. What it does say is Levin "took to Twitter in hopes to seek testimonials about people’s experiences while attending Christian schools." Indeed, Fox's sole first-person representation of Levin's intent includes a screenshot of one of Levin's tweets, and, echoing Fox's summary, that tweet doesn't so much as intimate that Levin is ridiculing Christianity:

Dxt0Nr6WkAEyHvQ.jpg

If there were a movement to ridicule Christianity:

  • The government being party to such a movement and targeting Christianity (or any other faith) for ridicule --> Problem/wrong/illegal.
  • A journalist reporting on such a movement --> Neither problemenatic nor illegal nor wrong.
  • A person or entity, journalist or otherwise, editorially ridiculing it --> Neither problemenatic nor illegal nor wrong.
Simply, Christianity is every bit as subject to ridicule as anything else.

Lastly, just how do you imagine a reporter can report on anything if s/he doesn't gather information on the topic about which s/he endeavors to report? I'm sure it's not hard to find youths who have positive experiences to relate about their experiences at a Christian school. Simply going to such a school and soliciting permission to interview the students there surely will turn up kids who have good things to say about their experiences there. (Maybe if one goes to a Catholic school, one'll find a kid or two whom a priest molested?) In contrast, it's considerably harder to find youths who've had particularly negative experiences at a Christian school; it's not as though such kids go about with a tattoo on their foreheads or something.

Okay, I'll reconsider.

Quick Christians, jump up on your cross.
