No matter what the Governor thinks, some of this won't stand. They will be sued and lose. The whole point of CCW is to protect yourself from criminals. Public transportation in NY, ie; the SUBWAY, is one of the most dangerous places in NYC. "Sensitive area" my ass. Law abiding citizens should definitely be able to carry onnthe subway. And why is times square a sensitive area? These lawmakers in NY have their head up their ass.

You've gotta be kidding me.
Other than New Year's eve......at any other time its just another tourist-y street area just like downtown Las Vegas, (where you can carry by the way, and no CCW holders are shooting up the place). So what is so sensitive about it? You've gotta be kidding me isn't an answer.

What? Times Square? Let me know when you've been to New York.

As usual the democrats will defy the law because they know best.

The Supreme Court is not a supremacy of 5 people.

They are trying so hard to create a sense that only one branch, their chosen branch is supreme at that point in time. Before Jan 6, one person in the executive branch could overturn an election by not conducting a symbolic gesture. Now, any action SCOTUS takes cannot be checked by the other 2 branches of government.

If this situation doesn't teach gen z libs about the importance of voting, nothing will.

I grew up in DC and NYC.
Times Square is considered by Homeland Security to be a high value target rich environment.
Vegas is for casinos, New York City is where THE BUSINESS OF AMERICA is conducted and Times Square is 100 percent tourist 100 percent of the time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
I own guns, so it's not as if I fantasize about gun grabbing or think that guns kill people.

But Times Square, if it existed in the days of the Old West, would have been the kind of place where the sheriff would have said you check your shootin' irons in with him till you leave town.
And with today's bumper crop of whackos all foaming at the mouth the moment some idiot on reality tee vee twitches his ball sack the wrong way, I see a lot of potential for mass shootings.

NYC gets a bad rap about crime but the truth is, crime in NYC has eased a lot since I was a kid.
I guess we shall see how NYC wrestles with this issue and if no mass shooting occur in the next year or two I don't mind admitting I was wrong.

One way of viewing the section of the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the Unites States of America which applies to arms is to ask a question: 'How does this state law abet the formation of well-regulated militias?

Regards, stay safe 'n well . . . 'n un-shot.

Terrorists will love this court.

I would opine this will eventually be struck down by the SC.

There are also a ton of large financial institutions headquartered on Times Square.

That makes no logical sense.

In general, the supreme court is the weakest of the three branches, in that their role is simply to ensure that the actions of the other branches fall within the constitution and laws passed under the constitutional framework. Arguably recent decisions have made them weaker by affirming they can't create their own quasi-laws.

Except they are. They have been saying looooong held laws that were well understood to be constitutional are not. That's activism.

Just wait until their ruling about state legislatures. They're going to destroy this country. There's going to be blood in the streets. It's really sad.

Do you think that all laws currently on the books are good laws, or would you want to change any of them? Isn't that why people appeal to the Supreme Court? To get laws they feel are bad/unfair /unconstitutional changed?

Yep. Before they were just violating one amendment. Now they are violating at least three.

Is that the role of the court? To change laws that have been constitutional for decades or centuries because you can’t work in the legislature?

That's the point. Trust Bannon, Ginny Thomas, DeVos, Thiel and his rasputin, Yarvin, the Mercers, and Flynn when they keep telling us that the point is to weaponize the State to do what can't be done with persuasion: restore a Church Militant and formal Christendom.

Clarence Thomas has his own personal vendetta, but Alito to Barrett have a mission: put secularity to death.

And if they have to do it with disorder and an American phalange, they will.

So is there NYPD checkpoints with metal detectors and mandatory airport style screening all possible points of ingress?

If those laws, no matter how old, were seen to be unconstitutional after another look and discussion then yes. You don't think anyone has ever been helped by SCOTUS overturning anything? Like I said, thats WHY people appeal to the court. I don't see how this doesn't make sense to you.

This ruling was about letting law-abiding citizens get CCW permits. CCW holders are amongst the most law abiding citizens in our country. Why on Earth would one of them perpetrate a mass shooting?
