Every virus is different. While natural immunity exists, how effective it is at protecting you from reinfection is an open question. It doesn't stop you from getting the flu, now does it?Oh come on! Natural immunity has been studied for eons.
That's not the purpose of natural immunity -- to stop you from getting infected.Every virus is different. While natural immunity exists, how effective it is at protecting you from reinfection is an open question. It doesn't stop you from getting the flu, now does it?
What is the "purpose" of natural immunity? That's not the purpose of natural immunity -- to stop you from getting infected.
What is the "purpose" of natural immunity?
Of course they are. The protection is not 100%, but you are less likely to get reinfected, and if you are reinfected, the symptoms will be mild and the infection will run its course more quickly.CDC: Natural Immunity Offered Stronger Protection Against COVID Than Vaccines During Delta Wave | Jon Miltimore
CDC epidemiologist Benjamin Silk shared welcome news yesterday.fee.org
To help fight the infection. You don't think people that get vaccinated are protected against re-infection, do you?
So getting back to what Joe said in the clip I cited. Would you say he was wrong?Of course they are. The protection is not 100%, but you are less likely to get reinfected, and if you are reinfected, the symptoms will be mild and the infection will run its course more quickly.
Suffice it to say, natural immunity doesn't protect you from the flu. How good it is at protecting you from COVID-19 is unknown, so you might want to consider getting vaccinated.
No.So getting back to what Joe said in the clip I cited. Would you say he was wrong?
Enjoy the rest of your day.
You don't have anything else to say?Enjoy the rest of your day.
Actually all the data I’ve seen very suggests that naturally acquired immunity is as good at preventing severe disease from Covid as vaccination.Of course they are. The protection is not 100%, but you are less likely to get reinfected, and if you are reinfected, the symptoms will be mild and the infection will run its course more quickly.

Yeah, if everyone was still wearing a mask this would have happened...There is no evidence that lifting the mask mandate is what caused this. However, if the numbers rise high enough again and if the current vaccinations are less effective against this new strain, another mandate may be in our future.
CDC says better, actually...Actually all the data I’ve seen very suggests that naturally acquired immunity is as good at preventing severe disease from Covid as vaccination.
No they don't.CDC says better, actually...
New wave of Covid cases hits U.S. officials, rattles Washington
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, second in line to the presidency, became the latest top official this week to test positive, following two key Cabinet officials and members of Congress.www.nbcnews.com
It's almost like removing masks was a stupid, deadly idea. Cool move.
Is there a next wave happening? I'm going to get another booster shot, if so. I might just get it anyway.
That information is out of date.No they don't.

"for people who already had COVID-19, those who do not get vaccinated after their recovery are more than 2 times as likely to get COVID-19 again than those who get fully vaccinated after their recovery."
The CDC recommendations haven't changed. From your source:That information is out of date.
The CDC referencing a study done in NY and California in January says just the opposite.
Prior COVID infection more protective than vaccination during Delta surge -U.S. study
People who had previously been infected with COVID-19 were better protected against the Delta variant than those who were vaccinated alone, suggesting that natural immunity was a more potent shield than vaccines against that variant, California and New York health officials reported on Wednesday.www.reuters.com

I never said they did. The question was whether natural immunity was as effective as vaccination, not whether it was the recommended way to get immunity. How effective something is just one part of deciding a recommended course of action. The CDC recommendations haven't changed. From your source:
Although the epidemiology of COVID-19 might change as new variants emerge, vaccination remains the safest strategy for averting future SARS-CoV-2 infections, hospitalizations, long-term sequelae, and death. Primary vaccination, additional doses, and booster doses are recommended for all eligible persons. Additional future recommendations for vaccine doses might be warranted as the virus and immunity levels change.
They probably don't have enough money; as we know, money buys power in US politics.Where the hell are all the good candidates??
And of course conservatives rigorously wear their masks at all times, and have never been guilty of spreading Covid.Because they don't wear masks, and are now spreading a deadly disease? Did you read the article?
If Democrats are going to act like conservatives on this topic, they deserve to be derided and mocked. It's not a good look during a deadly pandemic. And of course conservatives rigorously wear their masks at all times, and have never been guilty of spreading Covid.
We aren’t getting rid of covid-but we can almost end deaths from it.Here's your wave.
WASHINGTON — A fresh wave of Covid-19 cases swept through the nation's capital this week, striking officials at the highest levels of government and disrupting business just as President Joe Biden and other political leaders are urging a return to normalcy.
“Well, I think the tendency is that Covid-19 is totally behind us, but it isn’t,” said a maskless Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Calif., who represents the San Francisco Bay Area with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who tested positive Thursday.
“And we still have to have a high level of awareness, be vaccinated, be boosted, so that if, in fact, the infection hits us, that it would be a very mild case. And thank God that’s what it is” for the speaker, said Eshoo, who is one of Pelosi's closest friends in Congress.
Two top Biden Cabinet members — Attorney General Merrick Garland and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo — tested positive for Covid after attending the Gridiron Club Dinner over the weekend.
Other attendees of the exclusive, white-tie event also tested positive, including Reps. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, and Adam Schiff, D-Calif., the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee; Jamal Simmons, a top aide to Vice President Kamala Harris; and Valerie Biden Owens, the president's sister.
On Thursday evening, just hours after voting to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to become the first Black woman on the Supreme Court, Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, announced she had tested positive and was experiencing "mild symptoms." Collins also had attended the Gridiron dinner.
Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., also tested positive for Covid Thursday.
First lady Jill Biden’s press Secretary, Michael LaRosa, told NBC News Thursday night that he also has tested positive, while adding that the first lady is not considered a close contact.
Fox News first reported LaRosa's positive test.
Earlier in the day, Pelosi, second in line to the presidency after Harris, became the highest-ranking current government official to test positive for Covid. It came one day after she attended an unmasked bill-signing event at the White House alongside Biden; Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.; and other congressional leaders. The White House later said Biden was not a close contact of Pelosi.
Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill said the 82-year-old speaker, who is fully vaccinated and boosted, is asymptomatic but will quarantine. She did not attend the Gridiron dinner.
