I was in a forum local to Georgia but moved back to NY recently. I found this political forum on Google. I'm from NY, I work in consulting and am in the Civil Air Patrol (and was a 3POX1 when I was full time in USAF and CT-ANG, and am a search and rescue co-pilot now), I consider myself a staunch supporter of Israel (and have a brother in Israel in the IDF), I collect weapons from World War One and World War Two, I am photography hobbyist (Nikon), and I travel quite a bit. I vote Libertarian. I am married with six children and four grandchildren. I have a slew of bulldogs and some cats. I think that's about the major stuff.

Welcome to DP and have fun - hope you enjoy it here as much as I have.

Thanks John, and please don't think I called you stupid in our political posts. I didn't mean it that way.

Sorry to hear that you moved back to N.Y.

It could have been worse and you found yourself in California.

No condolences needed. I love NY and really missed it. I am not downstate in NYC, I am upstate in the beautiful rural part of NY. Far from crime, pollution, over crowding, and a land of concrete. Not sure I could survive in California. My wife is a Cali girl but I call the place "Der Peoples Republik of Kalifornia" to get her goat. LOL

I have had Nikon for so long that when I went digital my only choice was Nikon. Lenses are off the charts. I couldn't imagine spending $1.5K for a second fish-eye, for example. Just one was a sticker shock. I went with a D200 as my primary and a D80 as my backup camera. I must say, photoshop and lightroom are so much easier than chemicals and a Beseler Color Head. LOL

i've heard great things about Nikon lenses. sounds like you have some great equipment; looking forward to seeing some of your photos.

Der Peoples Republik of Kalifornia is an accurate description of the Socialist Republic of California and so is Mexifornia.

The lenses are top notch. The real Nikon lenses I mean; not lenses from other companies to fit Nikon. I heard actually that Canon lenses are even more expensive than Nikon. I have some vibration reduction lenses that were about $1K to $2K each and a VR fisheye that I think was in the $1.5K range. I have seen Canon lenses more in the $2K to $5K range. Some of my friends shoot Canon. I think they feel about the same to me. The coolest I ever saw was 2 years ago in Manila for work. One of our employees from the Czech Republic brought a Sony with him. As he explained to me, the sensor for the Sony actually had 3 times as many bits as Canon and Nikon. Needless to say I was shocked; as I have season tickets to a few professional sports teams and I only see Canon and an occasional Nikon. But he said this Sony made our gear look like stone-age technology.

I'd start with executing every muslim on the planet; but that's just me......... And a lot of us would be happy to do it for free if Uncle Sam would just go ahead and declare open season.

One would think that ought be part of the intro.

I'm a Nikon owner with no respect for Canon.

I was an Olympus owner for 30 years. I just decided against the 4/3rds format, that's all.
