Because I trust the rebuttal and am a Bible scholar myself. I know the history of some of the scriptures and have studied them with detail. I'll graduate with the equivalence of a minor in Biblical studies: of which I have a 4.0 in. The guy isn't in pursuit of truth but rather in the pursuit of attacking Christianity. I question his motives and recognize his bias.
Bart D. Ehrman has a PhD, which trumps your minor. Also after looking him up he was a christian for most his life but as he continued to study the bible the contradictions seemed to fill him with doubt and he eventually became agnostic. He is now a professor at North Carolina, the one on Chapel Hill. So, I'm amazed that you can simply disclaim all this studying he has done because you have a minor in biblical studies. It also seems this man has no motive in pursuing an attack on Christianity seeing that ,as previously said, he was an evangelical Christian most his life and attended Christian colleges.
