Who said this targeted any domestic non-terrorism related parties? I'm sure they could but doesn't mean they do.
This is a FORN SIGINT tool- what do you think the NSA does? Play pong? Lol
Overblown by the media...no one is reading your info, emails etc.. Snowden is a rat, and probably a mole, that will get what he deserves.
Every email is "read" by a sophisticated program and all are required to be preserved to be available to the government - and has been for about a decade. This was part of the deal also with Microsoft and why the Justice Department dropped the anti-trust suit - bizarrely too since they had won before the US Supreme Court so it a DOJ final victory. it was also in this time frame that it became illegal to sell any encryption program that does not have a key available to the federal government.
The government can copy and read your 'puter and/or copy it all - including anything you deleted up to 7 layers deep as of a few years ago (meaning until you totally over-write your hard drive 7-times it is still there. Other software, such as Norton, is specifically saving everything you do in a hidden file called the "ghost file." None of any of this is really a secret.
For my wife's business, she had a set of old Motorola computers with early encryption - essentially unbreakable. And that was tested too one time when the FBI wanted access and she said no. To their saying they could seize it, she replied "their old Motorolas." With that, it became more a mutual cooperation. She was "on their side," but wouldn't be their lackey - and her concerns were more the DOHS, not the FBI, in terms of who she pleases.
So instead, she worked with them at one of their high security locale's. The FBI was furious over it, total her no one every refused access to their computers on the topic (terrorism), but the DOHS congratulated her as one of the very few people who stuck to the rules. Who knows what an FBI agent tells his wife, has on his laptop etc.
Hubble(s) doesn't look at space, it is watching you. 24/7 and saving it all. That is how they located the Waco bomber so quickly. Curious law too. It is entirely legal to use to spy on people, but illegal to allow more than a certain resolution to be released. Thus, nothing seen can ever be used in a court or publicly released. That also is why such as Google Satellite can only zoom in so close. The government could read a book along with you from space as you read it on a park bench, but the security law says they can never publicly release nor even reveal this including in court in anything but the resolution limitation. No exceptions allowed. They want most people to think this just a conspiracy nut myth.
Everyone is being watched and recorded - and if far too late to figure any of it will ever stop. The only limitations are the limitations of technology. As it advances, so will watching you and everyone. That is just a truism - like it or not. So learn to live with it and adjust accordingly.
