New Scandal Involving Black Community Hits Buttigieg Campaign | The Daily Wire

The Problem With Pete Buttigieg’s “Douglass Plan” for Black America

If you had no idea that is a thing, you can be forgiven as it isn't being reported at all on most American MSM.

Basically Buttigieg feigned African American support and endorsements wholesale for what he refers to as 'The Douglass Plan' in a desperate attempt to shore up his numbers among the black demographic which he justly (and all the more so after this) polls at essentially zero with.

1. When candidates kowtow to special interest groups, they are often met with contempt. Those special interest groups are savvy, you know!

2. A certain woman in 2016 pandered by feigning a Southern accent and telling everyone that she carried hot sauce in her purse. That group did not turn out in the huge numbers of 2008 and 2012. They knew that she was a phony.

3. Mayor Pete should realize that (a) Some people in that target group feel that he sided with the police too much and (b) Some people are outraged by his romantic interest (even though that group knows all about the "down-low").

4. Mayor Pete would probably get more votes from that group if he stopped his pathetic pandering. Announce policies that will help ALL groups.

He would probably get more support from the black community if he didn't treat them with utter contempt and literally feign endorsements from them for an action plan concerning the demographic as he just did.

As I said in another thread, THIS is the real reason he will not win the dimwit nomination, let alone the general!

Tim-

The only person that would get a meaningful turnout of support would be a black straight candidate. He should stop trying. As for utter contempt, they reap what they sow in their bigotry against LGBT people.

First of all, generalising a charge of collective homophobia against black people is both baseless, and blatantly racist, whether or not you're carrying water for your candidate of choice (as well as the implicit assertion that black people are racist, and would never deign to 'meaningfully' turn out for someone who isn't black).

Second, Biden and Sanders appear to be gathering black support just fine.

Finally, none of what you said, even if it were true, which it isn't, excuses Buttigieg's fraud.

If you think it’s baseless then you haven’t spent any amount of time talking to QPOC or serving the LGBT community. And yes, the number one reason cited for not supporting Buttigieg within the black community is his sexual orientation. So to hell with them. Ol’ Sandbag can keep ‘em.

Anecdote isn't evidence, and even if what you're asserting were 100% true, something you've yet to provide any data in support of, it does not excuse this sort of fraud.

Prove it. Where is the data?

So Buttigieg's sexuality per this very report (which dealt only with South Carolina black voters) was only an obstacle for some, and in most of those cases, this was true only because of how they thought it might impact his electability in the general.

Yeah, you're going to have to do much better than that to justly brand black people as a whole as homophobic in particular.

Democratic primary polls: Who'''s ahead in the 2020 race?

There are three more months to go before SC votes. Tons of door knocking, news, media interviews, debates, town halls and ADVERTISEMENTS that will happen before the VOTE.

Who'''s winning — and losing — the great 2020 money chase.

As the field narrows and Buttiegieg ground game and fund raising game dominates, he will win the black vote as well.

Yeah, you're going to have to do much better than that to justly brand black people as a whole as homophobic in particular.

What the report noted was that his sexual orientation is a problem for black voters and that black men in particular are “deeply uncomfortable” with it. This is consistent with homophobia in the black community at large. While this is slowly improving, support for marriage equality is only 51% among blacks - the lowest of any ethnic group. Not to mention that LGBT homeless youth are disproportionately black.

Buttigieg will always be at a disadvantage in the black community primarily because of his sexual orientation. They like his Douglas Plan, but they don’t like him and the report bears out the reason why. So I’m glad he did it the way he did because it exposes exactly that. Hip hip hooray for the Douglas Plan - but not the homo who formulated it. They can exit stage left with their homophobia. We don’t need them.

Pete dumped money in the early states (Iowa, NH) 10 to 1 vs his nearest competitor for outlays; hence his substantial support there. It's an obvious (and frankly desperate) attempt to prime the pump and create enough momentum to carry him throughout the primary process, as that is the only way he can hope to win.

Moreover, I think you'll be disappointed if you expect a Buttigieg win in SC.

In terms of ground game and fundraising he's presently beaten by both Sanders and Warren.

But don't let all of that distract you from the topic at hand: his campaign's tone-deaf and frankly disgusting feigning of black support.

I have to admit every time I see Mayor Pete addressing his "black" issues he looks like a guy that is looking for a handle on a bowling ball. "Its got holes Pete, not a handle"

Just seems to have a way to deal with it. He almost looks like he cringes.

Actually, my summary was accurate.

When Buttigieg's sexuality is cited as a problem it is primarily due to the perceived impairment of his electability, even if there was a minority of surveyed black voters who were concerned with it for other reasons.

Per the actual polling and data available, including elements of this very report, it is far more probable that black disinterest in Buttigieg as a candidate has far more to do with electability concerns and his mishandling of South Bend as well as the greater relative appeal of other candidates, not even getting into this latest debacle.

Lastly there is virtually nothing in this sample of South Carolina black voters that points to anything resembling disproportionate black homophobia, nevermind anything that would possibly excuse Buttigieg for falsifying black support for his plan. Even Buttigieg's own campaign disagrees with your blatant racism and straw grasping: https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...s-why-he-cant-get-foothold-with-black-voters/

Our original Constitution and Bill of Rights are both gender and race neutral, from Inception.

When you say "our" you mean U.S. right?

The same constitution that required amending to allow women the vote and 3/5 of a man to be a whole? That kind of race/gender neutral?

I will not be disappointed no matter what the outcome. It is definitely going to be an interesting primary.

He would get more support from the black community if he wasn't gay. Apparently blacks aren't very fond of the gays which is a big problem for Dems when their most reasonable candidate is openly gay.

Again, please produce some proof that:

A: Clearly demonstrates the black community is materially more homophobic than any other and thus justifies your racism,

and once you've done that,

B: This increment would explain Buttigieg's near-zero from the demographic over things like more appealing candidates, electability, name recognition, policies, and so on (as stated earlier, not even Buttigieg's own campaign claims homophobia is a meaningful factor).

Good luck; you'll certainly need it.
