New Russian PM Transferred His Wealth to Wife – Kommersant

Mishustin received an apartment on Trekhgorny Val as deputy minister for taxes and duties from the President’s Office.

Critics have questioned how Mishustin's wife came to earn $12.5 million without owning a business.

An exculpating and not satisfying explanation. In Ukraine politicians and/or candidates must file an asset declaration every year. This must list everything of value owned not only by the individual, but all the assets of the immediate family also and every place where items of value are located. It doesn't work this way in Russia. Putin is probably the wealthiest individual in the world, but his asset declaration is fairly spartan. It is the same with all ministers, deputies, and siloviki in government and why they get so angry when activists like Alexei Navalny expose their palatial mansions, financial hiding places, and corruption.
