A report prepared for the Senate that provides the most sweeping analysis yet of Russia’s disinformation campaign around the 2016 election found the operation used every major social media platform to deliver words, images and videos tailored to voters’ interests to help elect President Trump — and worked even harder to support him while in office.

The report, a draft of which was obtained by The Washington Post, is the first to study the millions of posts provided by major technology firms to the Senate Intelligence Committee, led by Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), its chairman, and Sen. Mark Warner (Va.), its ranking Democrat. The bipartisan panel hasn’t said whether it endorses the findings. It plans to release it publicly along with another study later this week.

But conservatives sweared to us that they could never be duped by memes and slogans. They are the hard-core intellectuals who think about things logically without any emotion.

Did you note where Google (YouTube) and FB ( Instagram and others) provided difficult to read data. Appears they are jamming it up, slows it down

Youtube loves it's conspiracy theories and FB loves it's fake news. I pretty much fixed my facebook by blocking all memes and political crap. YouTube it's harder to avoid because if I watch some late night show or SNL It has "suggested videos" for me and none of them have anything to do with the topics I search for. For about a year I was getting Jordan Peterson videos only because he was trending. I don't want to listen to that crap... If YouTube kept their suggested videos within the realm of the channel I was watching (like show CNN videos after CNN clip) that would be better and less likely to trap users down the CT/incel rabbit holes. But I'm apparently not expanding my mind enough based on YT standards...

Then you have the idiots on here saying that there is a bias against conservatives on those platforms lolz. :lamo

No one can change the iron-clad mind of a Trump supporter.
Marketing, propaganda, Fox news B.S., these things don't work, they don't actually *cause* a person to choose anything!
Marketing, propaganda, psychoanalytics, these things only work on liberals, because they are weak!
This is all just sour grapes at losing the 2016 election!!

The best thing from Russia on YouTube are the videos of the drivers bashing each other on a daily basis....

Dash cams are a must with all the insurance fraud and police misconduct..

tRumpvangelicals were not the only targets of the russian use of social media
their efforts also targeted left leaning readers to discourage voting:
... The Russians aimed particular energy at activating conservatives on issues such as gun rights and immigration, while sapping the political clout of left-leaning African American voters by undermining their faith in elections and spreading misleading information about how to vote. Many other groups — Latinos, Muslims, Christians, gay men and women, liberals, Southerners, veterans — got at least some attention from Russians operating thousands of social media accounts. ...

Most people don't argue that Russia spread disinformation to try influencing our 2016 election. What there is zero proof of is Trump's campaign colluding with the Russians to do this. There is also zero proof that anything Russia did actually changed any election results. And, there is also lots of proof that the US has spread disinformation in order to influence other country's elections. We have been doing it for decades, if not centuries, and so has Russia. It's not something they just decided to start up in 2016.

A useless report like that one provides nothing that hasn't already been known, however, the talk about a country trying to meddle in an election in another country has brought out a lot of information on US meddling in foreign elections. More people read what even some outlets of the MSM like the NYT have to say on US interference in foreign elections.

A report like the one mentioned in the OP will bring out a "(yawn), so what's new?" by conservatives, while liberals will have new bobble-head talk for about 3 days. (grin)
Enjoy the "newly-found evidence" of a nothingburger.

In the meantime, some info on US meddling:

"... MS-NBC constantly features as a contributing expert on Russia the former US ambassador to Moscow, Michael McFaul. However, McFaul never mentions how he funneled CIA cash – some $6.8 million in total – via the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and its two branches, the International Republican Institute of the Republican Party and the National Democratic Institute of the Democratic Party, to Russian opposition leaders like Aleksei Navalny. Nor does the US media mention that the CIA and State Department funneled some $5 billion into Ukraine in order to bring about a pro-US government in that country. ..."

Compared to that one, Russians buying some ads on American social media is a laughable "offense" ...

Perspective: Google was asked how much Russia spent on their advertising. The answer $5400, Sheldon Adelson donated about $100 million.

Agreed. Even how much money was spent is immaterial, what the actual impact is what is probably more important, and I don't think there's a single poll or study out that concludes that 'I voted for Trump because of the crappy Russian social media ads'.

More unsubstantial bull**** accusations and innuendo from the Democrats, political left, trumpeted to prominence, to the near exclusion of anything else, by the complicit DNC propaganda arm AKA the media.

Everyone, statistically speaking, is vulnerable to propaganda to one degree or another. It's why it's a thing.
Is the point.
Only ****ing idiots, like Trump nutters, would deny it.

The ads may or may not have been important; the disinformation posts were: Benghazi, Uranium One, …

The campaigns changed more than votes:More than changed votes:

The odds on anyone actually answering "Yes" to a poll question that (effectively) asks "Did you vote for Donald Trump because you were so stupid as to be duped into believing that political propaganda pushed out to the American electorate by the Russian government?" are, in my opinion, slightly lower than the odds on me being unanimously acclaimed "God-King of the Universe".

A lot of them are Evangelical Christians, and it says right in the bible they will be persecuted. So even though they are by far the vast majority of the population, and almost every politician at almost every level professes to be Christian, why the entire system is out to get them.

IMO this thinking tends to carry on to all aspects of their lives, where they blame their failure in life on others.

Perspective: Google was asked how much Russia spent on their advertising. The answer $5400,

You really believe that's all the Russians spent? They only had one guy working on this, and someone who was making minimum wage?

They undoubtedly spent millions, they were after all making their man in the POTUS. And what a payoff for Putin! Helsinki alone was likely worth it, as Trump stood united with Putin against all branches of the American Intelligence Community. Add in the damage Trump has done to long and strong alliances, and Putin must be happier than a proverbial pig in ****.

Whether Trump as intentionally helping Russia, or just acting as a useful idiot, Putin and Russia have done spectacularly with his help.

Do you believe the senate report from last spring? Or are you calling it spin?

Senate report: No evidence that Russians changed vote tallies in 2016

WASHINGTON — There is no evidence that Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election affected the actual vote count, according to the first installment of the Senate Intelligence Committee's Russia report, released Tuesday.

"The Committee has not seen any evidence that vote tallies were manipulated or that voter registration information was deleted or modified," the report said, confirming a January 2017 assessment by U.S. intelligence agencies.

However, the committee concluded that hackers affiliated with the Russian Government "conducted an unprecedented, coordinated cyber campaign against state election infrastructure."

"Russian actors scanned databases for vulnerabilities, attempted intrusions, and in a small number of cases successfully penetrated a voter registration database," the panel found. "This activity was part of a larger campaign to prepare to undermine confidence in the voting process."

I don't think anyone on this sight changed anyone minds to vote for or against Trump by eloquently elaborating their
singular point of view. But it's more likely that a mind or two may have been changed here than a Russian bot
had influenced a single vote with $5400 worth of interference in 2016.

Yet an enormous group of sluggish minds bought into one of the more lame brained democratic senators Mark Warner
who has determined '“An outside foreign adversary effectively sought to hi-jack the most critical democratic process,
the election of a President, and in that process, decided to favour one candidate over another.” Warner suggested this
May have been why 'key states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania which Mr Warner named all fell narrowly -
and unexpectedly - to Donald Trump.'

The Senate Committee will examine whether the Trump campaign co-ordinated with the Russians to hire the army of trolls.
Money spent going down the drain, now wonder we are $20 billion in the red!!!!!!!!!

A CBS poll revealed half of Americans now believe the Russians interfered with the election to help Mr Trump, while 10 per cent believe there was Russian interference but that it was not specifically designed to benefit the tycoon.
There islittle hope for this country when 1/2 of the country see 'dragons in the field' when non are there
