As a child of African American AND Hispanic families (think: "Our Family Wedding" with equal if not identical amounts of drama), I can honestly say this is not true. African Americans are more nuanced than this and realize that the real problem lies with Republicans and their love of cheap Mexican labor. The solution is not to curb immigration but to curb worker exploitation. As for the "libertine" nature of the Dems, the Dem leaders are really good at bringing disparate segments together as a bloc -- they're masters at "disaffected" propaganda -- though they are having a bit of trouble right now with their African America community over a couple of issues, amnesty and legalization being one of them.
Republicans show a great deal of disdain for the poor, and for the working class, and have built their entire brand on telling workers to worship the captains of industry lest they be punished for anti-capitalist sacrilege. The number of poor and working class are growing. The fact that Republicans cannot to do the math on what this leads to, is the PRIMARY reason why they're going the way of the dinosaurs. And, only a sadly small percentage of the population is sufficiently politically astute to figure much out for themselves, and so they'll likely lean whereever they experience an alliance of some kind. Thus we can't accurately project our knowledge onto them; we may get all this, but most simply don't, and thus they'll vote in ways that cause us to scratch our head.
You yourself missed the point when you wrote "It's those who believe in the patriotic relationship between America and business success."
America is about the patriotic relationship between America and success of its workers and businesses. Not just America and business success. Your inability to consider the LARGEST demographic of all - the working class - is your ultimate weakness. It's why you scratch your head about what's going on. Trust me, those of us on the left are not at all confused as to the decline of the GOP. We're not scratching our heads. We know. We've known for a long time what was going on. We even warned you the decline of the GOP was at hand. And now it is here.
