New Poll Out of VA Shows Just How Bad Trump Is in General Election

“As this “Trump Train” motors on, things seem to get more bleak every time a new poll comes out. For months at a time, the negatives of Donald Trump bubbled just below the surface. It was out there and some people were noticing. The mainstream media was too busy tripping over itself to slobber over Trump to notice.

But now it’s bubbled over and Trump’s negatives are exploding like Mount St. Helens. As Leon pointed out, Donald Trump’s unfavorable rating has reached 70%. Sexually transmitted diseases are liked more at this point.

But it gets worse. Look at these numbers out of Virginia:
Nearly a third of Virginia Republicans will vote for Hillary Clinton, pick a third-party candidate or sit out the election if Donald Trump is the GOP’s nominee for president, a new poll finds.

Democrats in the key swing state are far less likely to defect if Clinton is the nominee, with just 9 percent saying they would vote for someone else or stay home on Election Day, according to a Christopher Newport University survey released Thursday.

Trump’s “loyalty gap,” as CNU researchers dubbed it, could cost the celebrity developer the race in Virginia, where the survey finds the former secretary of state leads Trump 44 percent to 35 percent.

One-third of Republicans in Virginia will go third party, sit out or vote for Hillary if Trump is the nominee.

To use a Trump term, this is an absolute disaster waiting to happen……………………..

Virginia is going blue. It has been for years. Northern Virginia continues to populate while the rest of the states population stagnates. Virginia will be a version of New York in another 20 years with a very small area of the state dictating voting results.

Good analogy........... and I must agree at the current rate of change will happen.............

But it will take centuries before it comes to Alabama, Mississippi and Western Pennsylvania a/k/a North Alabama........

Exclusive: Blocking Trump could hurt Republicans in election – Reuters/Ipsos poll

“A third of Republican voters who support Donald Trump could turn their backs on their party in November's presidential election if he is denied the nomination in a contested convention, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.”

………..A third of Republican voters who support Donald Trump could turn their backs on their party in November’s presidential election if he is denied the nomination in a contested convention, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The results are bad news for Trump’s rivals as well as party elites opposed to the real estate billionaire, suggesting that an alternative Republican nominee for the Nov. 8 presidential race would have a tougher road against the Democrats. “If it’s a close election, this is devastating news” for the Republicans, said Donald Green, an expert on election turnout at Columbia University…………

………..The Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted March 30 to April 8 asked Trump’s Republican supporters two questions: if Trump wins the most delegates in the primaries but loses the nomination, what would they do on Election Day, and how would it impact their relationship with the Republican Party?

Sixty-six percent said they would vote for the candidate who eventually wins the nomination, while the remaining third were split between a number of alternatives such as not voting, supporting a third-party candidate, and switching parties and voting for the Democratic nominee.

Meanwhile, 58 percent said they would remain with the Republican Party. Another 16 percent said they would leave it, and 26 percent said they did not know what they would do with their registration. The online poll of 468 Republican Trump supporters has a credibility interval of 5.3 percentage points…………
(Click here for the poll results: Potential fallout from a brokered convention)

There is nothing to compare this election cycle to in current history……. (That is if one leaves out the antics of the Three Stooges……….)
And Donald Trump is unlike any other candidate IMHO American political history…………. A living caricature of himself…
No fiction writer could ever envision the……. Nor if he were to tell someone………….They would not believe it possible……….

How can there still be red States with this crumbling Republican Party?

Are you saying that's a bad thing, or not?

I don't think it is - population, not acres covered, should determine voting power.
