OK, I sort of spun it a little on that last post. Socialism inherently has a type of freedom, more of the social nature, and less of the economic one. In my opinion, I'd rather have social freedom than economic freedom. You've called Kelzie a potential dictator. That's just plain wrong. True socialism isn't remotely near a dictatorship. Higher taxes, yes, but oppresive military force over it's people? No. Don't throw the USSR or Cuba or N. Korea at me to show me otherwise, because they are not socialist in any respect.
As Benjamin Franklin said, the only two certainties in life are death and taxes. You say you don't want to pay your taxes because you don't like how the money is being used for the educational system? Well I don't like what the government is doing in Iraq, does that justify me to not have to pay my taxes?
We don't have the liberty to pick and choose where our taxes go. Why is that? Because we live in a republic where our elected officials choose for us. If a majority of people didn't want to pay for the educational system, then they'd vote for representatives that feel the same way, and they'd pass legislation changing the tax system or educational funding. That's not the case, so you'll just have to make due. If you don't like it, I would reccommend moving to the Cayman Islands. It's beautiful there and they have no Income or Property tax on anything. Their government solely relies on tourism and duty.
I believe in the success of our educational system, and unless people pay their taxes, then it will fail, and that's bad for everyone.
