Nevertrumpers.

I am really starting to grow fond of nevertrumpers. They seem to be perfectly rational people. And sufficiently progressive. I vote that they make a new home in the BIG TENT. Dems will take all comers. Further making Republican party superfluous.

"The Never Trumper Republicans, though on respirators with not many left, are in certain ways worse and more dangerous for our Country than the Do Nothing Democrats," Trump tweeted earlier this month. "Watch out for them, they are human scum!"
So, yeah. We'll keep a look out, Mr. President.

Never-Trumper GOPers: Wake Up! It’s Trump Or Anarcho-Socialism

In my book, I explain Alinsky’s tactics by using current events. His book, Rules for Radicals, was written in the early seventies and includes thirteen tactics for the left to use against Conservatives in an effort to transform America to socialism. It was a blockbuster then and remains in many colleges today indoctrinating our kids to hate this country.
Never-Trumper GOPers: Wake Up! It’s Trump Or Anarcho-Socialism - The Revolutionary Act

Anarcho socialism would require a really revolutionary act. We have never had to even give much thought to such ideology because it has no power. You are a reactionary not a revolutionary.

Got it, people can't change, is that it?

Anyone who turned into a Leftists because Trump was elected was never a Conservative. Period.

Interesting, you do know Trump has changed party affiliation 5 times and was a democrat from 2001 to 2009. So does that mean he was never a conservative and still isn't. Trumpies are funny.

Careful, your hypocrisy is showing.

What do you care?

Because I doubt you actually were against going to war with Iraq. I mean, I could answer the question without asking another question.

Once the Republican Party rids itself of Donald Trump, it can return to being the GOP and quit being the Party Of Trump. Because it went to POT in 2016 doesn't mean it can't once again be a legitimate political party.

I can't agree. I believe Trump is a reflection of his supporters and he will be their gold standard for decades to come. The Repub party won't be ridding itself of Trump, it will continue to be the party of Trump, or a party who'll support someone who's a more sophisticated liar, a more heavy handed authoritarian, or a more extreme white nationalist racist leader.

Trump has a 90% approval from Repubs, these people aren't going away or realize all of a sudden they were wrong after November. They will just double down and do whatever it takes to regain power. How many Romney's are there in the Repub party? They're not going to have any effect on the path the Repugs take.

I suppose another conservative party could rise from the rubble after the 20' election, but I believe that's as likely as Trump supporters realizing that Trump is a racist, man-child buffoon who's poses the greatest danger America has faced in decades. I won't hold my breath...

Supporting Leftist policies does, however. I've never noticed you supporting any Conservative policies. If I missed it, feel free to list the Conservative policies you're in favor of.

Conservative policies... let's see: There's the principle that those who work should have more than those who don't. That one is ignored in today's government. There's the idea that the USA is not the world cop, and therefore does not need to spend nearly as much as the rest of the world combined on the military. There's the completely ignored idea that the federal government shouldn't spend more than it has. As for authoritarian ideas, like imposing one's religious views on the rest of society by force of law, I don't support those.

But, no matter what you think of my politics, my statement was that Donald Trump is not a conservative. OK, then, your turn: What are the conservative policies that he supports?

Maybe a brand new truly conservative and non authoritarian party can rise from the ashes. Am I being too optimistic? Maybe so.

You just proved my point. Thank you for playing.

I hope your optimism becomes reality. I suppose the elections of 28', or 32' will be the crossroads where they'll have to make the big decision. Who the Repubs nominate will determine which path they'll take, the old moderate version, the one who didn't believe Democrats wanted to destroy America, or return to their last, Trump-like authoritarian path...

i hope that you're right. only having one choice that still sort of sucks is not a good setup. after what they've done, i'm going to have a big problem trusting them not to do it again.

I feel the same way and that will also have a big effect our foreign relations. I still believe that after Trump, Biden will be able to re-establish our relations with our allies and restart sanctions on our adversaries. But what about future, long term agreements, military, commercial, or whatever? Will we abide by our treaties or ignore them like Trump? Our allies will have to consider that if enough Americans elected someone like Trump once, they're going to have a big problem trusting them not to do it again.

Trump might have screwed up our relations and influence around the world for decades...

Yep. And good luck at finding a diplomatic solution with a hostile nation instead of war. They'll know that eventually the next Republican moron could completely renege on it.
