Netflix's price increases scared people away from the streaming service, and the volume of unsubscribes surprised Jim Cramer.

"Something happened here where people decided that content wasn't worth paying for," Cramer said Tuesday on "Squawk on the Street", a day after the company reported that it missed its subscriber goal in the second quarter. "I would never in a million years say I'm not paying the additional couple [of dollars]."

The entertainment-streaming service missed its subscriber goal of 2.5 million in the second quarter. Netflix reported 1.7 million new subscribers and beat earnings estimates. Netflix blamed the dismal results on from longtime subscribers cancelling their accounts amid price increases.

Netflix's stock plunged more than 13 percent Tuesday. Shares have dropped nearly 25 percent in the past year.

For me there are three things that really piss me off:

1) There is a lot of non english stuff that is not segregated or labeled well, and since most of the time I am not willing to go to the work of dealing with subtitles they piss me off with all the time I waste trying to find the stuff in English

2) There is a lot, and I mean A LOT, of newish stuff that could not ever get a screen (direct to DVD/Streaming) and almost none of the old great movies, this is the problem of flooding the site with crap (cheap) content. There are some really good arty gems in the pile of crap, but they take a long time to find

3) They used to have a really good homepage suggesting content that I might want to watch, but now their search engine (is that the right term?) clearly is showing me stuff that they want me to watch rather than what I want to watch, which really pisses me off.

I am wondering what others think.

Dont be shy.

What upsets me the most about Netflix is when they do something like "Since you watched West Wing" then offer me Paulie Shore's Bio Dome. Come on!

Ya, that is the kind of search engine game I am talking about...

I love Netflix and even at $9.99 a month it is so ridiculously worth it.

But it used to be a lot better. THey are driving profits(in part by making their own content) and trying to expand internationally, which degrades the experience for this American User.

Still has a ton of shows I like. And their original programming is usually pretty good too. And there are always movies on their worth watching.

You ought to try Amazon Prime. $99 a year...great movies...great music...free Amazon 2-day shipping...plus the ability to add Amazon Echo for voice activated music, weather, stock quotes, flash news briefings, auto ordering and lots more.

Not to mention there is, year by year, increasingly more options for streamed content.

I have Amazon Prime too (cheaper because I'm a student), and it's totally worth it for it's free shipping and other benefits. But it's streaming library is not up to par with Netflix's.

I've seen some gems on Netflix but like Hawkeye said...they are few and far between. I sure like marathoning through a series that I didn't watch when it came out, though.

Can you imagine the magic that would be Netflix Sports?

A business, trying to increase profits?!?!?! Those bastards....

This isn't anywhere near the first time that has happened to them. Some bailed under previous service options and price hikes. It's hard to imagine that they didn't come back in the last few years. This time around they gave those of us with old accounts two years of the previous payscale before upping the fee a couple bucks a month. Considering the value that Netflix has provided in comparison with their past hikes, the naysayers will be back in no time.

I'd cancel my cable immediately.

Netflix: Phenomenal original content, a lot of television content archives.
Amazon: Small dosage of good original content, some unique TV deals, mostly similar back catalogue as Netflix, capability to be a hub to other premium cable outfit back catalogues for small monthly fee.
Hulu: Crap original content, ass backward content deals (missing seasons, episodes, etc), ads, ads on your much-more-expensive non-ad tier. On the upside: the only outfit with a trove of Criterion Collection titles, can also be a hub to other providers like Amazon is.

Agreed. Hell, they could quadruple the price and I would still subscribe.

I let it expire. When Punisher goes live, I'll reup, watch, cancel. I use Amazon for most of my movies anyhoots.

Netflix has tons of shows that I will never get to finishing. Its really good for TV shows in that you can binge when you are able instead of waiting every week to watch a single episode. Their movie selection has gone downhill where most of the movies on there are crap tier films/films that everyone has seen. I mostly still have it strictly for its TV selection.

If you aren't watching any foreign films you are missing out on some of the best films of all time.

Subtitles are easy, you just read.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I am actively looking for non english, but 80-90% of the time I am either too lazy or I am multitasking, for instance maybe I am here with y'all. Netflix should not make this hard on me, all non english content needs to be at least CLEARLY labeled at the top, or preferably segregated.

They took away MASH when I was only half done, some warning would have been nice, maybe I would not have gotten into it, or gone faster.

Now that they have competition you would think that the experience would get better, but it has over years gotten a lot worse.

Makes no sense to me. I dont think this management knows what they are doing, they are blaming the problem on price increases but I think it is subpar user experience that is the problem.
