[h=1]Netanyahu says Israel will annex parts of West Bank[/h]
Jerusalem (CNN)Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced plans to annex parts of the West Bank if he wins re-election next week.

Netanyahu told reporters at a press conference that, if re-elected and able to form a coalition, he would apply Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea.

He said he expected US President Donald Trump to present his Middle East peace plan just days after Israelis vote next Tuesday, September 17, and that in co-ordination with the US, he would also look to apply sovereignty over all Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

"[The US plan] poses a great challenge for us and a great opportunity, a historic opportunity to apply sovereignty over settlements in the West Bank and other areas of importance to our heritage," Netanyahu said.

This announcement by Netanyanu is quite likely what precipitated the large rockets fired into southern Israel from the West Bank.

Land grab! Nothing like making sure that the Arab/Israeli conflict will continue in perpetuity.

This was always the plan of the extremists in zionism, to relcaim the entirety of former Israel. Import anybody on the planet with a Jewish grandparent, even if they haven't had any contact or history with the area, then send them into disputed territory while subsidizing them, then use their presence as a reason to take that land from the people who actually lived there. For some reason an imported Ukrainian is more deserving of land in Palestine than actual Palestinians.

Wow. Really seems like the Palestinians should have made peace 20 years ago instead of launching their terror war and refusing to contemplate peace with a Jewish state.

Can’t wait for them to miss the next opportunity.

Well there's a reason they feel they have every right to be there as the Jews do. I saw one Palestinian on television saying that his family has been on that one single plot of land for over 900 years and now he's being told it's not his and he has to go.

Great quote for anyone looking to understand the seriousness of Israeli nationalists (even abroad), when it comes to being decent in the Middle East.

I'll just get it out of the way and call myself an anti Semite for pointing this out...cuz you know it's coming.

Wow. So different than the hundreds of millions of refugees from the middle of the 20th century.

That totally justifies sacrificing generation after generation to continue to fight for the Jews' country.

Of course, it doesn't, but the Palestinian national movement has never really been about fighting for self determination or independence, only fighting against the Jews having their own country.

lol. It's called sarcasm.

Would love for them to completely change their national and political ethos and get serious about making peace.

But we all know they won't, so all we can do is laugh about it while we all move on with improving our lot in life.

Land grab! Nothing like making sure that the Arab/Israeli conflict will continue in perpetuity.

It's hardly a "land grab'....Israel has been effectively governing those areas for decades now anyway (since 1967)......building roads....putting in infrastructure etc.

Why not make it official for what it already is anyway??

As far as an Arab-Israeli conflict......as long as the Arab/Muslim community refuses to acknowledge that Israel has a right to exist and accepts Israel as a legitimate country.....that won't ever end till one side wins what is essentially a low level war

You saw it on TV so it must be true.

These are also territories that will be considered Israeli as a result of every possible conclusive peace agreement.

Likud and Benjamin Netanyahu are courting more extreme right-wing and ultra-nationalist voters for the upcoming election in the State of Israel. There is no depth he will refrain from sinking to in order to win and thus to avoid criminal prosecution for all sorts of alleged corruption charges. Both the party and the man are malignancies growing in the political tissues of Israel, so hopefully this election will cut them out and leave them vulnerable to legal therapy.

The State of Israel under Likud leadership will not stop the land grabs and forced displacements until all of the West Bank is part of Eretz Israel and there are no Palestinians left between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. When the West Bank is fully annexed then the Gaza Strip, overburdened with more displaced persons from the West Bank will be declared unviable and cleared for annexation too, using humanitarian intervention as the excuse. The only ways to stop this are for Israelis to throw out the Israeli religio-ethnic nationalists from power or for the world to boycott, sanction and embargo the State of Israel until it relents and returns lands to Palestinians for a two-state solution. There is a third possibility but that involves a regional war and a threat/promise by one or more nuclear-armed states outside the region to use nuclear weapons if any state in the region does so first, but that is a nightmare scenario which I don't want to even consider further.

Likud must go!

Delusional as always, with a fun conspiracy theory about complete forcible transfer when the only party to the conflict that has mainstream support for it is the Palestinians.

Incidentally, Likud must go but the PLO and Hamas are totally fine, right?

Aside from you regular nonsense, you do know that Blue and White party leader Benny Gantz hold the same view regrading Jordan vally,he said he won't give up the Jordan vally, and won't withdraw to 67' lines and won't divide Jerusalem.

And, the elections is next week so I would take any promise of any politician with grain of salt.

NO1:

From: Gantz vows Israel will keep West Bank settlement ‘blocs’ and Jordan Valley – Middle East Monitor

Benny Gantz, chair of the main Israeli opposition alliance Blue and White (Kahol Lavan), declared yesterday that he would not pursue a unilateral withdrawal from occupied West Bank territory.

According to the Times of Israel, Gantz made the remarks at a conference held by the religious-Zionist news site Srugim in Jerusalem.

Vowing “there will be no second disengagement”, a reference to the 2005 withdrawal of settlers from the Gaza Strip, Gantz said that any potential agreement with the Palestinians would have to be backed by the Israeli public in a referendum.

Gantz’s comments “echoed” recent remarks by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who declared Sunday: “There will not be another Gush Katif, there will be no more displacements.”

Gants is saying no disengagement like in 2005 from Gaza without consulting the Israeli electorate in a referendum. He is not saying annex the West Bank or significant parts of it. Those are very different positions.

So, no, you are incorrect in the characterisation of his position.

Cheers.

How soon before sanctions are imposed, as we did with Russia when they annexed Crimea? It can't be allowed to stand.

We'll never really know because they never got to have the country they were supposed to have in the first place.

You do know the Arabs and Israelis were fighting over the dirt that was supposed to go to the Palestinians, right?

It's like two guys got into a fight over your wife and the victor got...your wife.

You do realize that its that activity, which is only for Jewish settlers, by the way, that is what the palesitinains have been pissed about all along, right? The inexorable annexation of more and more of the land allocated to the Palestinians.

How soon before sanctions are imposed, as we did with Russia when they annexed Crimea? It can't be allowed to stand.

lol. Yeah, noting can be allowed that would permanently allow Israel defensible borders. That would be unconscionable.

We'll never really know because they never got to have the country they were supposed to have in the first place.

That doesn't mean much. There have been so many refugee groups from the middle of the 20th century, with numbers that dwarfed those involved in this conflict. And every one of those groups is no longer refugees, even if they didn't get their own separate country.

So my point, which is still correct, is that whether or not the Palestinians feel like they have a right to Israel, that does not justify them continuing to indoctrinate generation after generation into a dead end death cult where any positive national aspirations and any compromise to achieve better outcomes are sacrificed in order to continue to fight against Israel's existence.

It is a stupid thing to do and orchestrated by people who don't care at all about the people they are sacrificing. And it is reinforced by the surrounding Arab countries who, unlike all other countries with all other refugee populations, elected to deny people rights based on where their ancestors were born and keep them in apartheid conditions with limited mobility, education, employment and citizenship rights.

And which the international community that pretends to care about the Palestinians doesn't do anything about other than support its perpetuation.

You do know the Arabs and Israelis were fighting over the dirt that was supposed to go to the Palestinians, right?

nope. They are fighting over the territories the Jews got in 1948. The Palestinians were offered virtually all of the rest and rejected it, because it would have meant relinquishing their claim over Israel.

It's like two guys got into a fight over your wife and the victor got...your wife.

If you say so...

They don't want the wife. They just want me not to have one.

They are fighting because they have set denying me the right to be married as the primary goal of their entire existence. The entire Palestinian national movement is built around denying Jewish self determination. It isn't about independence, it isn't about liberty. It is about their phony "right of return" and denying Jews self determination. If you don't understand this, you really don't understand the conflict.
