The pandemic/Trump era. Any illusions I still possessed about this country withered and died during the last decade. I'm talking beliefs instilled in me since childhood that were pretty stubborn about this country's greatness. All dust now.
 
And this is how the voter is diminished even further. Well done Republicans, Democrats, Supreme Court, various states, and everyone else drunk on duopolistic political power.

This is a Republican gambit. The Democrats are just fighting fire with fire, and finally.
 
Nebraska with the only unicameral legislature likes to think it’s independent.

They will do as told with a GM of the 2nd and get rid of splitting their electoral votes.

Nope, redistricting and gerrymandering has been going on for a very long time. All MAGA Republicans did was up the game on the back of a complicit Supreme Court.

Let's not pretend it is only Republicans looking to pick their voters.
 
And they keep trying to tell us this has nothing to do with project 2025 or the general global trend towards authoritarianism.

This latest move by Repubs is a naked power grab designed to keep tRump in power. This goes above and beyond normal gerrymandering.

I generally agree that this has been going on for a long time by everybody.

What appears to be new here is attempting to do it mid-cycle at the direct request of the White House.

I don’t. That’s why I advocate for the scientific solution of using algorithms to draw districts. It can definitely be done to make the representation as fair as mathematically possible.

That both sides resist that means it’s probably the best way to do it.

They all supposedly work for us. It should be possible for us to make them do it.

But it isn’t. They have their respective donors to think about first.

Not sure what you mean.

I want it to be done by algorithm to make districting reflect the populations as evenly as possible.

As well as adding seats to the Supreme Court in such a way as to remove it as a political thing.

Never before has a President of the United States ordered a partisan redistricting in order to hold on to a slim majority in the House in the mid term.

Let’s not pretend that this is normal.

Don’t misrepresent what I said, no where did I say or hint this was normal or acceptable. I even said Republicans upped the game and who helped.

I said it’s been going on for too long and the voter ends up harmed.

Keep up.

If me calling out Democrats for their interests in picking their voters as well and that offends you, I don’t care.
 

It would be nice if we removed Democrats and Republicans from the game of picking voters.
