If any state could leave at the drop of a hat, how can the United States surrvive such a threat to its existence?
if we aren't united, what is the point?
As it stands right now, I personally see a better reason to wage war against socialists at home then fighting in wars overseas. How does the U.S. survive the growing hatred we have for your way of doing things?
Why would anyone wage another war that pits one American against another?

Pretty stunning that many Americans hold this view. However its not stunning that they mostly flock to the biggest bigot up there, Donald Trump..
You take hack a poll and consider it legit? You can go into areas of Boston and NYC that are mainly democrat and get the same results.
Kinda shameful.
consent of the governed is the only way you can ensure people will fight to defend this republic.
as it stands today, I have no vested interest in keeping this horror show safe and sound, and I'm not alone.
that is what happens when you ignore state rights. I'd just as soon go to war with you as I would the new boogie man you tell me to fear abroad.
The majority taking away the rights of minorities is not freedom, it's tyranny. You can defend tyranny all you want. You will lose.

What makes it a "hack poll"?
America is already dead to me, there is no united we stand.
so vote for free college, and other "fair share" bull****. Force people to bake cakes.
Just don't be surprised when I sit on my hands while I watch what you built burn to the ground

blablabla. the left and their empty platitudes.
forcing someone to bake a cake - who is more of a minority then a small business owner?
tax policy the left pursues is nothing more then a populist majority punishing a minority.

No one is forced to bake anything only treat people equally...the horror.
Tax rates are based on what a person can afford to pay....you want to change that?

I don't see my state as a separate idenity, I am American regardless of what state I live in. I may be a individual, but I cannot separate myself from society or the interests of the nation. The civil war bound this nation, we have survived two world wars, the United States has survived and endured.
Why is the existence of a political jurisdiction such a huge priority?
It's certainly possible for nation states with slightly different theories of governance to live beside one and other peacefully.
Texas is larger than pretty much every nation in Europe (except Russia and maybe Ukraine), it's bigger than most Southeast Asian and South American nations, it's roughly the same size as Afghanistan.
If we broke the United States up in to four of five separate nations and lived together as a confederacy of nation states, kinda like the EU, why would that be a problem?
Hell, if we broke up in to 50 separate nations I fail to see why it would be such a huge problem.
Nations come and go.
All.
The.
Time.
The U.S. isn't going to last forever either.
Governments are instituted by men in order to secure men's rights and they derive their powers from the consent of the governed.
At least that's what I read.
Whenever government becomes destructive of those ends it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government.
When people feel that the government is destructive of their rights and they seek to institute a new government then the old government, should it attempt to oppress them and impose upon them a governance they do not wish to recognize, is a tyrant, and no just government at all.
Basically what you're saying is that you support tyranny.
Nice.
This country has checks and balances.
Lincoln was an asshole.
I see ones support for a consolidated power, in this case the federal government, as a blatant attempt to force all people of a nation to conform to a single viewpoint and is in affect limiting my right to decide what is right for me and my family what my opinion differs from popular opinion.
ultimately, I side with consent of the governed.
It could be that, or it could be people understanding history and knowing that the Executive Order only …
the war of northern aggression is still considered to be a black mark to many of us, just as slavery is.
That is better than shooting you!!
the precedent of allowing people to govern themselves would not of been a bad thing.
I personally see a better reason to wage war against socialists at home then fighting in wars overseas.
so vote for free college
not as many as we used to have
you sound like people that used to think housing prices always go up.
they always do... until they don't.
I believe in rule of law and consent of the governed. I find the form of governance you want to be sickening. I'm not going to aid you in achieving it, and I won't risk my life to defend it.
Why is the existence of a political jurisdiction such a huge priority?
Nice.
I consent by following the laws and voting, in order to not consent to being governed would be an act of violating the law.
I believe in reform from within the system.
Tyrants weild absolute power with no checks or balances. This country has checks and balances.
There is no need to destroy this country over a disagreement over the constitution. I see enough good within our country in order to keep this grand expierment alive.
I don't believe your system can be reformed. it is fundamentally broken.
