right you are -Jello and East Bay Ray didn't like the macho punks. there was a huge split among the punksters back then. The stormfront aryan racist punks really hadn't gained much visibility then-it was a few years later before that illness cropped up in Europe and part of the USA

You can interpet it that way and your probably right but if you think about it aren't they kinda similar? And a lot of punks did use the whole nazi thing for some reason but as soon as that song was released people stopped.

Most skinheads aren't nazis. They just got a bad rep because nazis started to shave their heads as a new look. A lot of the best punk bands consist of skinheads including the one in my sig.

Actually one of the reasons I like this song cause I know exactly who Jello Biafra is talking about. Those god damn bastards with ****ing mohawks at the shows beat up people because they think its cool and seek to try and make everyone elses time miserable. I think it has to do with the band. Hardcore shows for some reasons attract the biggest assholes but at Rancid shows nobody acts like a dick. I went to the warped tour when I was like 13 and I wasn't sure what to expect because I was still kinda young but those guys were cool there. Now the Warped Tour sucks though. THe only good bands there was the Dropkick Murphys, Transplants and the Street Dogs.

My favorite band while in lawschool was the Clash-hardly right wing though they really weren't the socialists some claimed

You do know that Johnny Ramone (the real talent in the band) was an NRA life member and GOP party member as well (Hence JOey's song about the KKK taking his baby away etc)


good music is good music no matter what it is called and the Clash was the best there was for several years. The ramones put on great concerts and anything that pissed off the Kennedys is worth listening to even if the lead singer is named Jello.

No use arguing about politics with fans of them either. They will more likely insult you or kick your ass then debate you first

actually, to be quite honest, punk music is what got me into politics. I used to have really really really socialist beliefs but then I kinda moved a little bit to the centre. However now I'm starting to move a bit more left again. Kinda weird I guess. I've always had though a very strong stance on civil liberties. I know whats right its only a question of how to implement a just, fair, and happy society and not have it lead to hunger or anarchy (not that kinda anarchy).

Well I dunno about that. Just because it has never been implemented correctly doesn't mean it can't happen. Obviously socialism in iteself cannot work just the same as pure libertarianism can never work but I don't think that you can entirely dismiss especially based on the whole democratic socialism movement.

I'm not really a socialist but I'm beginning to re explore the idea of socialism because I've read some interesting things about it that I've never seen before. Particularily the more moderate socialist movements such as Euro Socialism.
