This is probably the worst news in the world since George W. Bush began the invasion of Iraq, maybe even worse.

We, as a global people, need to be working towards more cooperation and consolidation of governance, not tearing down bridges and descending back into pre World War I nationalism and racism. In addition, the UK has severed itself from the European Central Bank (a bank of the people) and have put themselves more at the mercy of greedy Wall Street financiers.

Mark my words, the disintegration of Europe will hurt all of us and will lead to another age of nuclear proliferation ethnocentrism.

Actually, the UK is not yet severed from the EU and that might take a while.

I understand that this is the prevailing narrative surrounding the matter, but the way I see it is that the stupid won yesterday. Proof? read the comments in the main topic in MSM. In that topic, you learn of Britain's liberation from the Brusslian Fourth Reich.

Or alternatively, the drive to total globalization is not all that good, it has problems, and not recognizing this has lead to a lot of social tensions where internal civil wars have been coming alone. The UK exit has slowed this and probably avoided an EU civil war in 15 years.

Yesterday if you had a factory in Birmingham you could use local labour, or eastern European labour which is cheaper. Today you use local labour of move the factory. Better for the locals who can now expect the pay to increase and better for the Bulgarians who no longer need to leave the country to get work.

If there is a low tarrif world there is little need for free movement of labour.

A victory for the Nationalists over the Socialists can't be all bad. In fact, I'd venture to say it's probably a good thing. Germany should take notes.

What do you think has been going on? It is time for a change as things really can't get much worse. And loving your way of life is not hate or racism. It is just an excuse for progressives, communists, and Islamists to use this centurys' two favorite words.

Actually, no, we shouldn't be working towards more global integration and consolidation of governance. Individual, sovereign nations are a good thing; they allow different policies to be tried, to see, in practice, which ones work and which don't. Further, local governance can better tend to the needs of the local population, and will have a better idea of what any individual groups' problems are. The British are going to have concerns that are different and unique from those of Americans, Canadians, Germans, etc.

Hopefully this does, eventually, lead to the dissolution of the E.U., however, that may be too much to hope. It's more likely that a one, maybe two, other nations will have a referendum on membership, and then the E.U. will carry on with its march towards a unified European nation, with a near-complete lack of democracy.

The history of mankind appears to point toward the desire of like minded peoples to consolidate and settle in self governed city/states. Flying against this natural result is the Globalist perspective championed by One World forces under the banner of "Progressivism". Consolidation of governance results in the loss of freedoms that are the cornerstone of human existence.

The EU, and the multitude of faults and economic calamities it has force members to endure from others, appears to prove a One World agenda is not feasible.

I really had no real position on this but since the hard core communist and socialist left were against the vote, it must have been a good thing. Apparently britain was one of the net producers in the EU and the EU community was redistributing wealth to the Net Consumers. No wonder the communist left is upset-on less golden goose to get plucked by the parasites?

It is most definitely a Progressive Utopian fantasy. I hear these types all the time saying we need a one-world government to combat things like poverty and glowball warming. Idiots.

Yep. It's definitely a victory over the socialists.

It hurts us becuase bankers and traders use it as an excuse to panic and crash markets. But in the end, it's not going to lead to WW III or anything. England is not going to implode or disappear. It's the second largest economy in the EU, right? It's not going anywhere.

And even if Parliament follows through and withdraws from the EU, we're still looking at a minimum of 2 years for it to actually exit. Plenty of time to work through some trade agreements and make a smooth transition.

It'll take work, for sure, but it's not all doom and gloom.

I thought you were better informed than this?

Britain is not a Net producer - we may be the 9th biggest exporter but we also have a trade deficit. Germany is a $1.5 trillion dollar exporter and we are just under $500 billion. We're going to need to lear to start manufacturing now we've set on this path as most of our manufacture exports are owned by overseas car companies who may resettle in Europe.
As for the communist and socialist left - where do you think George Galloway and separately the socialist worker party or even the international socialist party stand on EU and capitalism?

The more I think of it, the bigger a mistake this looks. I'm still as mind blown as I was 12 hours ago.

Absolutely. Common sense has prevailed!

Politically good -- rejecting the globalists and socialism in Europe.

This will start a domino effect and that's a good thing.

Now, if we could just get an referendum to remove us from the UN.

What will hurt us is open borders and liberalism !

My sentiments exactly.

I had no real opinion on it either but when I look around at the level of butt-hurt petulance being displayed by the utopian nanny staters, it makes me think that this was probably the right move.

How? As I see it, they have a greater say in their own economy, immigration, and domestic laws. How sovereignty ever a bad thing?

Have you ever expierenced a divorce proceeding?

If the u.k wants to end it's relationship with the e.u, the u.k is going to suffer from breakup.

true but in many divorce cases, it is better than remaining in an abusive relationship

As for my analogy, the Komodo dragon's bite is dangerous because it's saliva is infectious
