Do you believe the government should take a proactive role in reducing American dependence on foreign oil? If so, what steps should be taken to do so?

Oops, I meant to make this a poll where you can pick multiple answers. Can a moderator change it for me? Thanks.

Take the Tax breaks president bush gave his Oil and Gas croonies, and give them to people triying to find ' new ' energy supplies. Build new Nuclear power stations,if the Europeans can build them safely we sure as hell can.
Research new ways to extract oil from the ground and ways to remove excess sulpher from low quality oil.
Of course none of this is going to happen as long as Republicans control the govt. They are in the pocket of the oil & gas industry ,totaly.

-Allow drilling in ANWR and/or other protected sites within the United States
-Allow the building of new nuclear power plants
-Tax breaks for companies that promote alternative energy sources
-Tax breaks for citizens who use fuel-efficient vehicles and/or solar cells
