So next year we'll be having EU parliament elections.

If you go to the website you will find 15 questions that you can asnwer. Based on those answers you can find which political parties and which EU parliamentaries have the most in common with your views on issues.

The most I got was 73% on a lot of people from numerous political affiliations but predominantly from the liberal coalitions, christian democrats and reformists. Even from my own country. Surprisngly, the daughter of the president, Elena basescu, a woman I despise with a passion, is the closest to me on issues with 73% similarity. Which is surprising but then again, she is a democrat liberal and I am a national liberal so that's to be expected that if she has some political theory in mind there would be a lot of similarities there. Ironically, members of the National Liberal party that are in the EU parliament, I have just 2x60% and 1 guy with 53% similarity to my own. But they are in coalition with the socialists so that's ok. And the national liberals in my country are a joke unworthy of the name or the ideology. Because you know... they shook hands with the social democrats to get their hands on the political power. Bastards.

Here is how they voted, each EUMP: MyVote2014.eu | By Issue
On the issues presented there.

So have fun and let me know how you all did.

The best match I got was 67%. I was best matching with a very rag-tag collection, but generally on the left. Interestingly, the match I had with the party I vote for in EU elections was 20%, with Willy Meyer Pleite. That might be because I oppose extension of maternity benefits, believe fishing must be cut and don't agree with increasing financial support to regions. I guess my IU comrades think differently.

I too believe that fishing must be reduced to a sustainable level, I support extended maternity leave for certain families ( just off the chart maternity leave is bad, but if you say: support maternity leave for women who have college education, then yes, I support this) and I support financial development support for regions, especially greece, portugal and ireland as well as Croatia, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria. If you want to stimulate economic growth, these are some of the countries which cannot afford to create large stimulus and grant packages and still maintain a low-to-none deficit. So EU money is for the most part better regulated and the chances of it being stolen by the corrupt officials in those countries is smaller.

I also think that we should continue nuclear reactor energy production.

Agreed

I support the current level. I would not support discriminatory qualifications for receiving support, so we disagree there.

I support financial development support for regions, especially greece, portugal and ireland as well as Croatia, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria.
I support it, but I don't support increasing it at present.

I also think that we should continue nuclear reactor energy production.
I voted 'don't know' on this, because I'm no expert in the pros and cons of modern nuclear technology.

Richard James Ashworth 67%

Morten MESSERSCHMIDT 60%

Frank VANHECKE 60%

Came up more conservative which isn't surprising

^_^. Cookie?

I think that giving longer maternity leave for women who have superior studies is discriminatory at all. of course, there are upsides and downsides to this but anyway, fair is fair, agree to disagree. I just have a problem with the term discrimination as used here.
I support it, but I don't support increasing it at present.
Ah, yeah, I agree, no increase in the sum of money, just you know, not abolish it.
I voted 'don't know' on this, because I'm no expert in the pros and cons of modern nuclear technology.
Well nuclear technology, provided it doesn't blow up, is a safe and green way of satisfying energy demands. and the only way nuclear reactors do blow up is either:
a) sabotage
b) very bad location (Fukushima was a very bad location... Japan is subjected to numerous earthquakes and stuff, so yeah, higher risk. Europe has very little risk of typhoons, earthquakes and other natural disasters)
c) structural failure (i.e Chernobyl) which is solved for the most part if you use the latest and greatest in technology.
