My Uncle, Edward Murray, has won the election for city council in Madisonville(pop: 3,456)! Here's a poorly constructed timeline of how it went down.

January: He is almost neck-and-neck with polls showing him at 33% vs King's(the incumbent) 38%

Febuary: Has some trouble here, 33% to King's 40%. King writes bill for arigulture technology reform.

March: King loses ground, Uncle Murray has 32% approval vs King at 34% approval. Probably because King's son was involved in a drug incident.

End of March - April: I come down and help Murray's campaign, polling numbers go sky high after public finds out that I used to be a state congressman and I support him. 56% approval vs. 35% approval.

April 9: Uncle Murray wins with 54.6% of the vote!

I love elections!

huh, why did no one reply? I thought people would be glad that my Uncle won.

oh well.

Our jubilation is so intense we can't stop our hands from shaking to post. That is those who are still conscious after the giant party we had celebrating you Uncles success.

My favorite part of the story is when you were able to take all the credit for your Uncle's victory.

Hey, it's your world, he's just living in it.
:rofl

lol Yea, I had to add that in there. My Uncle could've won by himself if only he would do a few speeches. I keep telling him,"Fred, fundraisers are good but you can't have an effective campaign without speeches".

I smell fraud....

:2wave:

Go figure, who knew this thread would be so hilarious!:rofl

The opponent was named King...

I'm guessing it was Rodney...

Right now, Ed Murray's walking around yelling, "I beat Rodney King!....I beat Rodney King!"...

Big deal...

Who hasn't?...

Sorry I didn't explain better, I was in a hurry (like always....)

This was for Madiison City Council, not the U.S. House. It was Fred Murray vs Sid King. A much harder-to-beat opponent.

After all, most people don't pay attention to the local elections and vote for the incumbent, just because.

I didn't know they did polls for city council elections, especially in cities of under 4,000 people. You need a sample of 1,072 people at minimum to get an accurate poll.

Hell, they don't do polls that frequently for congressional or gubernatorial elections. Must be a bellwether city...
