Too bad he pissed his life away. I spoke to him (briefly) in the lobby of a hotel once, quite a few years ago. He was as drunk and wasted as I have ever seen anyone. Seriously, falling down drunk, slobbering....with two local hookers on his arm. You could tell he was on the fast track to nowhere.

What a waste.

I hear that. And it was quite ironic at the time of his accident, he was clean and sober.

Sam was on my wife's massage table the week before his death. Mauna Kea Beach Hotel.

His style of comedy was certainly unique. Always outrageous, frequently funny, occasionally in very bad taste.

So long Sam...

Billo...for a hero, his feet are clay, no?

They used to be roomates. I didn't find out until the book Brother Sam that a big part of their fued was the result of Dice asking Sam and his friends not to eat his bologna when they came back from the bar one night, and Sam just went ballistic! Over bologna!

Dice and Sam were bookends. The only other comics that can come close to them is Pryor, Carlin, Williams and Leary. However, Sam and Dice are the only comics I've ever seen that could go on tour and sell out big concert arenas. I saw Dice at the LA Forum. He plays drums.
