Late last year Musfreesboro's Islamic leaders announced plans to build a new mosque because the 250 Muslim families in town had outgrown the existing one. The construction plans were approved. At first, no one in the town of about 100,000 people south of Nashville said much about it.

In February someone spray-painted over the sign: "Not welcome", with the letter t shaped like a Christian cross. Fathay put that down to one hostile individual. But by May protest meetings were organised, politicians were denouncing the plans and the loyalty of Muslims in the town was openly questioned. Critics did not pull their punches at a public meeting. Among those who spoke against construction of the new Islamic centre was Karen Harrell.

"Everybody knows they are trying to kill us. People are really concerned about this. Somebody has to stand up and take this country back," she said.

Speakers accused Muslims in the town of promoting polygamy and indoctrinating the young with hate, and questioned whether they adhered to the US constitution.

This is why we have a second amendment in our country.

So...a certain group feels uncomfortable because they feel like the majority hates them...and your response is "git yer gun!"?

The said group may have to defend themselves from an ugly mob that has the backing of the local authorities

Police dont defend citizens only steal, intimidate, harrass and kill them. In addition our Supreme Court has ruled that the police are not obligated to protect you. American Muslims have been a target of the Government and random assholes since 9/11. The second amendment is the only protection these people have from being harmed.

Why not? Folks claim the 2nd Amendment is there so that the People can protect themselves against government invasion. Are you then saying that this protective right is limited only to hostilities perpetrated from the government? If that's the case, there are alot of folks out there who need to be arrested.

But seriously...

I'm not a big fan of guns, but I won't begrudge anyone the right to protect themselves under the Constitution. So, if you're being threatened with violence to such a degree that the hostiles are throwing rocks, bricks, bottles and fire bombs, your best defense is to fire a few rounds at your assailents and either watch them flee or die where they once stood. Surely, it's not your only defense. You could pick up those objects that became weapons and throw them right back at your assailents, but I doubt that would have much effect. You're much more liable to get hurt that way. Better to break our your .357 Magnum and bust a cap in some asses! One way or another, they'll stop!!!

Violence against the Islamic Cult members is not the answer, education is the key.

Some would have you believe that Islam is a Religion of Peace. Well not even close. The Koran teaches death to the infidels and the subjugation of woman, and that is only part of it.

Christianity's history also teaches death to non christians....

However, they moved past it, and Islam will move past this as well.

Actually, the statement from Karen in the article about indoctrinating the young with hate? That is being done by the idiots who keep persecuting muslims. Those young muslims are going to be indoctrinated to hate those who have persecuted them. Apparently thats what these christian folks want.

Cordova church reaches out to area Muslims - WMC-TV 5 - Memphis, TN

The unlikely bond between a Christian church and a Muslim church began moments after Heartsong Church Pastor Steve Stone put up a sign after learning the Memphis Islamic Center Complex was being built near his church.

"About three days it took us to put up a red banner that said, 'Welcome to the Neighborhood Memphis Islamic Center'," said Stone. "Our call is to love them."

"We saw this sign ... and we were just floored," sand Danish Siddiqui with the Memphis Islamic Center.

Stone said he wanted to take the friendship one step further.

"They called us and asked us if they could use the facility," said Stone. "Their facility wasn't going to be complete by the time Ramadan began."

And this is the difference between real Christians, and fake Christians.

it's good to see some sanity in this.
