I'd like to see a break down of the differences between a "traditional liberal" and a "woke left."

I'm a traditional liberal and have been all my life, But Americans brand "woke" ideas I and my peers have held for decades. Typical of the right, you brand what you clearly do not understand, declare it evil and go back to worshiping 1950's principals.

There was a time in America, and not all that long ago that unemployment insurance was declare 'communist' and I don't see much change.

Traditional liberals from FDR to JFK to LBJ to Cater to Clinton have nothing in common with the modern woke left.

What would be a much worse thing would be to grant them amnesty. Then they would all have to be paid the same as Americans and that would also cripple these farms because they're not hiring Americans because they want to underpay people.

The employers were hiring these guys because they didn't pay taxes on the wages. So yeah, it was cheap, for the employer and employee. The taxpayer picked up the tab for unpaid taxes and social services.

I agree with his goals most of the time. I disagree with his tactics and rhetoric more often. I dont think we have an issue with rates being too high at the moment. Though I wouldnt mind seeing them cut because it would likely benefit me personally.

If they are actual employees (meaning those laborers typically work for the same person who controls what they do) as opposed to contractors (who do a job for a customer and then go to another one the next day), the employer should be paying half their payroll taxes and reporting it on a W-2, which is impossible since illegals aren't eligible to get Social Security Numbers.

I’ve had multiple jobs (hardwood flooring, painting and framing carpentry) in the past when I worked (exclusively) for the employer’s ‘company’ (at various job sites) and was paid as an ‘independent’ contractor receiving a 1099.

I got tired of all the unpaid ‘windshield time’ and became a self-employed handyman, thus allowing me to (only) accept various jobs closer to my home. I have a few commercial customers who report my income to the IRS (so they can write it off as business expense), but most of my customers pay me (unreported) cash. Now that I’m a senior citizen collecting SS, as long as my (total annual) 1099 reported ‘business’ income is below about $14K I no longer have to file FIT forms.
