I can't find a thread on this. Sorry if someone already started one.

Anyway, this is what Larry O'Donnell (host of new show, Last Call) had to say. Maybe it's not too far fetched to worry we are being taken over by socialists.

"Glenn, unlike you, I am not a progressive. I am not a liberal who is so afraid of the word that I had to change my name to progressive. Liberals amuse me. I am a socialist. I live to the extreme left, the extreme left of you mere liberals, okay? However, I know this about my country. Liberals are 20 percent of the electorate. Conservatives are 41 percent of the electorate, okay?...You can sit there and pretend that liberals should run more liberal in conservative districts. You love the loss of the Blue Dogs. The only way, the only way you have a chairman Barney Frank, there's only one way, that's by electing Blue Dogs. It's the only way. That's the only way you have a Speaker Pelosi."Lawrence O'Donnell Calls Himself A 'Socialist,' Slams Glenn Greenwald On 'Morning Joe' (VIDEO)

Watch the video. He goes on to say more, including how he'd like to take guns away from everyone. I wonder how many other socialists are hiding behind liberalism on MSNBC?

Socialism is just wealth redistribution. Anybody who supports medicare, medicaid, food stamps, police, fire fighters or any other form of government largesse is a socialist to one degree or another. This fellow just has the guts to admit it instead of using euphemisms like "liberals" or denying it altogether like "conservatives."

You might want to actually look up the definition of the word socalism. It'll help you some. :coffeepap

Easy, tiger, it's too early in the thread for that kind of tone.

Why don't you educate yourself about what the word means and get back to me:
Socialism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Then explain how taxing people to pay for services like police is not socialistic.

Well, he says he's a socialist who also wants to take guns away from everyone.

I thought he was a witch?

Purrrrrs

The argument over which stealth strategy was better suited to enable them to shove their oppressive ideology down the throats of the American citizenry was okay, but I would have been more interested in hearing them discuss specific issues they disagreed on.

and this startling revelation is important because..... because .... because why exactly?

:prof a male witch is a worlock.

wtf are you talking about?

:prof a male witch is a worlock.

Historically (and I'm talking since the time of Cotton Mather here) a male witch has been called a "witch." "Warlock" is a term that comes from Wiccans and D&D.

It makes sense that it would be a unisex word. In Spanish the same word is used for male and females witches, "bruja/brujo."

:prof megaprogman got his knowledge of witchcraft from role playing games.

Is that, like, some kind of rebuttal?

It's a comment on the use of Wikipedia as source information.

Anyone can edit a Wiki page, making it's use as source material somewhat suspect.

For example, I just added the following to the linked Wiki page...

Socialism is a tweeting bird, chirping in a meadow.

It will likely be gone within a few minutes, but my point is that Wiki as source material is bogus. As a starting point for reference, it's fine.

So because a TV host is a socialist, we should worry about the country being taken over by socialists. That's good logic there.

We don't have to worry about one TV socialist host, MSNBC only has 8 viewers

Please... give us a better source on socialism.

Beck's evidence of "radicals" "revealing themselves" doesn't pass the laugh test | Media Matters for America

On his November 8 Fox News show, in the middle of yet another conspiracy theory involving puppetry, the gold standard, and more, Glenn Beck explained to his viewers that radicals are now "unmasking" themselves, which he said was a sign of future "trouble."

First, Beck cites MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell who did, in fact, refer to himself as a socialist during an appearance on Morning Joe. What Beck didn't take note of was that O'Donnell's characterization of himself as such isn't anything new. In an interview published five years ago,O'Donnell described himself as "a kind of practical socialist. I know we failed. A lot of our ideas have failed, so I'm not with them anymore. I'm willing to take from a grab-bag of stuff that works."

Moreover, O'Donnell has explained that he is a "socialist" in the way that "we all are" because Social Security and Medicare are "socialist program," not as an admission of being a "radical revolutionary," as Beck suggests. In a September 17, 2010, interview with The Hollywood Reporter (via Nexis), O'Donnell described himself as "A practical European socialist which, as it turns out, we all are, if you know that Social Security ... is a socialist program, and that Medicare is a socialist program and that all economies of the world are mixed with some capitalism and some socialism and they just vary in their degrees."

Maybe it's not too far fetched to worry we are being taken over by socialists.

Even if this were true, there's really nothing much you could do in the unlikely even that socialism (whatever the heck that even means on your side of the pond) were to become the majority political ideology. What exactly do you think you could do to stop the momentum, anyway?

That said, there is not a single Western country that hasn't incorporated more than a few socialist ideas in its basic political structure. Not even yours.

I'm sorry..

You were saying something about liberals being intolerant of other peoples beliefs?
