During his sabbatical, a university professor wishes to come to Florida to interview me for a study he is doing on black Tea Partiers. He said he wants to find out why "you think the way you think." Why do I get the feeling this guy believes that black conservatives are a strange phenomenon, almost unique as discovering a Bigfoot? This professor is flying all the way to Florida to actually meet me, an extremely rare species -- a Blackus Conservativus.

As believers in traditional values such as faith in God, family, and country, conservatives are viciously attacked by the mainstream media, which function as enforcers, punishing all who dare challenge the left's socialist/progressive agenda.

The MSM portrays conservatives as nutcase extremists; take Col. Allen West, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, and Ted Cruz to name a few.

Liberals decry as "kooky" those of us who believe that the institution of marriage should continue to remain the union of one man and one woman. Expecting the president to obey the Constitution is also declared by Obama media sycophants and the mainstream media a bit nutty, mean-spirited, racist, and extreme.

The left, assisted by their buddies in the MSM, use a very effective tactic to render conservatives politically impotent. They accuse us of being haters and aggressors, all the while forcing every item on their socialist/progressive list down America's throats.

Michele Bachmann IS insane. One thing she's famous for here in her home state is hiding in the bushes of the State Capitol to spy on a gay rights rally.

I have no idea what she thought she was doing.

I'll agree with the MSM in this case - the four named politicians are nutcases and should not be given the title "conservative"

You have lost touch with reality.

If Conservatives are the mainstream in America, why did the GOP get its backside handed to it last November?

Could you explain that for us, please?

"Better days are coming." ~ But not for today's out of touch, running out of time, GOP

in a nation where about half of us don't vote, the democrats won by a few percentage points.

Too bad facts do not prove him out. Polling suggests he is wrong. Elections suggest he is wrong. PROTIP: just becuase some one on the internets says something is true does not mean it is.

America has a problem, but to claim the GOP is doomed because of one or two elections is nonsensical

I thought midterm elections were the years where voter turnout was low. 2012 was not a midterm election but a presidential election.

yes, midterms show well under 50%

2012 was higher then midterms, but lower then 2008 and 2004. In 2012, 56% of eligible voters voted

What a silly article. He complains that this guy probably already has false pre-concieved notions about his side, and then uses that to back up his own false pre-concieved notions that he has of the other side.

all the while forcing every item on their socialist/progressive list down America's throats.

And this part is just plain laughable. If the left is just forcing their wishes down people's throats then we wouldn't have to be compromising on immigration reform, we would have a single payer health care system in place etc.

It seems like this jack ass is mistaking losing elections for "having stuff rammed down our throats."

No one reasonable is claiming the GOP is doomed. However, the GOP is going to have to make some changes, and fairly minor ones, to remain a force in American politics. The country is shifting left on social issues while the GOP is shifting and focusing right on the issues. This is going to continue to be a problem.

Well it seems on the subject of gay rights Conservatives are falling out of the mainstream:

Polls in 2013[edit]
A May 9 Washington Post-ABC News poll found that 55% of Americans supported gay marriage while 40% did not.[10]
A March 20–24 CBS News Poll shows that 53% of Americans support same-sex marriage, 39% oppose, and 8% are undecided.[11] The same poll also finds that 33% of Americans who now think same-sex couples should be allowed to legally marry say they once held the opposite view and have changed their opinion.
A March 7–10 Washington Post-ABC News[12] poll shows that 58% of Americans support same-sex marriage while 36% oppose. The poll indicates that 52% of GOP-leaning independents under 50 years old now support gay marriage.[13]
A March Quinnipiac University poll found 47% support and 43% opposed among all voters.[14]
A February Fox News poll indicated that 46% of Americans support same-sex marriage while another 46% oppose it.[15]
Public opinion of same-sex marriage in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It is curious that a professor wants to interview a forum poster when there are all kinds of nationally known black conservatives he could get more mileage from.

Get back with be in thirty years, after massive demographic change has taken its toll on the GOP and tell me all about it.

get back to me the second we became a one party nation.

I won't be holding my breath

apparently I'm not in a debate with someone that is reasonable.

When it happens, you'll know it.

And it will happen.

Right now most babies born in the USA are born to mothers who belong to ethnic groups other than non-Hispanic White.

Think about that fact and do the math.

No one can stop time and/or change.

Remember McGovern? His campaign was seen by some as the end of the democratic party. Carter's presidency was another event that people considered was bringing the end of the democratic party. After both, the democrats shifted some, and the situations in the country shifted some, and now democratic votes are plentiful.

The only shift that I see going on in the GOP is that a lot of GOPers are moving farther to the right.

It will be interesting to see how that works out.

That shift is being driven by the Tea Party, which is of decreasing relevance to American politics. They already are mostly a joke, and becoming moreso. They do not represent the republican party however.

this completely ignores the growing influence of libertarian ideas in the GOP causing a major divide on how social issues are being played out in the grand ol party
